As an extension of the sonoro ORCHESTRA Series, sonoro audio GmbH is now introducing the new sonoro ORCHESTRA SLIM Gen.2, a compact yet powerful-sounding bookshelf loudspeaker system designed primarily as a playing partner for the sonoro MAESTRO Smart HiFi receivers.

Story Highlights
  • According to sonoro audio GmbH, the new sonoro ORCHESTRA SLIM Gen.2 is a slim shelf speaker system that can be placed anywhere.

The company sonoro audio GmbH has set itself the goal of developing high-quality audio systems that fit seamlessly into people’s everyday lives, allowing them to enjoy music wherever they want in their own homes in a flexible way. It is obvious that audio systems that do not present themselves as classic HiFi solutions play an essential role in this. Instead, the product portfolio of the Neuss-based company is primarily made up of elegant All-in-One systems.

However, there are also exceptions, as sonoro audio GmbH also offers audio systems that rely on classic speaker systems, such as the sonoro MAESTRO Smart HiFi receivers, in order to fulfil various customer requirements in the best possible way. It goes without saying that the company also develops suitable speakers, such as the latest shelf speaker systems sonoro ORCHESTRA SLIM Gen.2, which the company is currently presenting as a new product.

Slim bookshelf speaker system

The sonoro ORCHESTRA SLIM Gen.2 are what the manufacturer sonoro audio GmbH describes as very slim bookshelf speaker systems that can be seamlessly integrated into any living environment.

According to the data sheet, the speakers measure 180 x 260 x 326 mm, weighing in at 6,9 kg each. This is an indication that the developers have placed their trust in a solid construction that minimises sound-damaging vibrations and resonances as far as possible.

The speakers have a hand-sanded HDF housing with rounded corners, which is refined with a matt finish in either black or white and aluminium applications.

The next generation

As the name suggests, the new shelf speaker system sonoro ORCHESTRA SLIM Gen.2 is already the second generation of this solution. According to the manufacturer, the system has an optimised sound performance.

A revised 5.25-inch driver is used here, with a cone made of a Kevlar-reinforced paper and bamboo mixture and a stable die-cast basket.

The tweeter is a neodymium-powered Air Motion Transformer equipped with Wave Guide. In combination with a bass reflex system, the new sonoro ORCHESTRA SLIM Gen.2 can therefore reproduce a frequency range between 45 Hz and 32 kHz. With an impedance of 4 ohms and a sensitivity of 86 dB, it is designed for amplifiers with an output of 50 watts or more.

According to the manufacturer, the crossover has also been revised, ensuring a perfect connection between the tweeter and the bass-midrange driver and thus guaranteeing a larger sound stage with a clear, centred vocal presence.

Compared to the first generation, the new sonoro ORCHESTRA SLIM Gen.2 is intended to achieve an even more controlled effect for a clearer, more balanced performance.
