According to Sonova Consumer Hearing GmbH, the new Sennheiser HD 550 was made to discover details that were previously inaudible.

Sonova Consumer Hearing describes the latest solution from the Sennheiser brand, which is now available with the new Sennheiser HD 550, as headphones that offer the perfect balance between uncompromising quality and intuitive fine-tuning. The manufacturer promises a wide-ranging stereo sound and an ultra-lightweight design, and aims to provide headphones that offer long-lasting listening pleasure.

Interestingly, the target group has once again been chosen to include both music lovers and gamers, who should find a top-class solution in the new Sennheiser HD 550.

Newly developed driver at the heart

The Sennheiser HD 550 uses a specially developed driver, specifically a dynamic driver with a diameter of 38 mm, which is manufactured at the company’s factory in Tullamore, Ireland.

According to Sonova Consumer Hearing, this transducer ensures high performance and exceptional clarity. The new Sennheiser HD 550 is claimed to have a frequency range of 6 Hz to 39,5 kHz, with a total distortion of no more than 0,2 per cent. The impedance of the headphones is stated by the manufacturer as 150 ohms, making the Sennheiser HD 550 an ideal addition to a wide range of HiFi solutions.

Over-ear headphones with an open design

The Sennheiser HD 550 is designed as over-ear headphones with an open design, whereby, according to the manufacturer, a new acoustic fabric is used to protect the sound transducers and the construction is set up in such a way that no obstacles can negatively influence the sound.

It is also interesting to note that the developers of the new Sennheiser HD 550 have once again arranged the sound transducers at a slight angle so that the sound hits the ear slightly from the front. This should contribute significantly to a more realistic reproduction, which will not only please music lovers, the increased spatial perception is also a great advantage for gamers.

In addition, particularly soft, textured ear cup pads and headband pads as well as air-permeable metal mesh ear cup covers are used.

Modular design

Like all models in the Sennheiser 500 Series, the new Sennheiser HD 550 has a modular design so that cables and ear pads can be easily replaced. It is supplied with a 1,8 metre long cable that has a 3,5 mm stereo jack plug with 6,35 mm adapter, making it compatible with a wide range of different devices. According to the manufacturer, a range of additional cables, which are available separately, facilitate interaction with balanced sources and microphone-compatible sockets.
