WiiM Vibelink Amp - Class D amplifier with PFFB Technology

Linkplay Technology Inc. has caused quite a stir with its solutions in recent months, delivering products with an outstanding price-performance ratio in the field of streaming and so-called just-add speaker devices. Now, with the new WiiM Vibelink Amp, the company is presenting a solution that is designed solely as an amplifier for the first time.

Story Highlights
  • For the first time, Linkplay Technology Inc. is presenting a pure amplifier under the WiiM brand in the form of the WiiM Vibelink Amp.

WiiM is a brand that has taken off in a remarkable way, becoming a relevant player on the market out of nowhere. The company behind WiiM is Linkplay Technology Inc., which has managed to set the streaming segment in motion. The reason for this is the WiiM brand solutions, which offer remarkably versatile, powerful-sounding streaming clients at surprisingly attractive prices. The same applies to the WiiM brand solutions, which can be categorised as Just add Speakers and are thus characterised as stereo integrated amplifiers in a compact form with an integrated streaming client.

Linkplay Technology Inc. has now come up with a surprising solution that doesn’t involve streaming and is designed solely as a powerful stereo integrated amplifier in the form of the new WiiM Vibelink Amp.

Designed for the music lover

Linkplay Technology Inc. states that the new WiiM Vibelink Amp has been designed according to all the applicable rules of HiFi, combining power and precision, making it an ideal solution for music lovers and HiFi enthusiasts. The manufacturer also states that the WiiM Vibelink Amp could also be used in a home cinema configuration, not least because of its compact dimensions.

High performance in a compact form – Class D with PFFB Technology

The new WiiM Vibelink Amp is based on what is known as PFFB Technology, which stands for Advanced Post-Filter Feedback Technology. This is intended to guarantee an amplifier with particularly low distortion and therefore maximum sound purity and naturalness. The manufacturer speaks of a wide and deep sound stage in which all details of the music are revealed.

Components from the specialist Texas Instruments are used here, such as TI TPA3255 amplifiers and six TI OPA1612 OP amps.

Advanced thermal management is used to prevent overloads, with the manufacturer specifying the use of a copper heat pipe and a generously dimensioned aluminium heat sink. A so-called Precision PID Control is also intended to monitor the operating status of the amplifier in real time.

The WiiM Vibelink Amp delivers an output of two times 100 watts for speaker systems with an impedance of 8 ohms and even two times 200 watts for speaker systems with an impedance of just 4 ohms.

Analogue and digital inputs

It is interesting to note that the new WiiM Vibelink Amp not only has analogue inputs in the form of a pair of RCA sockets, but is also directly equipped for digital sources. An optical and a coaxial S/PDIF interface are available for this purpose.

It goes without saying that Linkplay Technology Inc. recommends the use of the new WiiM Vibelink Amp primarily in conjunction with its own streaming solutions, such as the WiiM Mini, WiiM Pro, WiiM Pro Plus or WiiM Ultra.

Their digital signals are processed by an ESS 9038Q2M DAC from ESS Technology Inc. with up to 24 bit and 192 kHz and with Adaptive Sample Rate & Bit Depth, as the manufacturer explains.

Technical data of the WiiM Vibelink Amp

The WiiM Vibelink Amp measures just 200 mm in width, 212,5 mm in depth and 63 mm in height, weighing in at 2,05 kg. The housing is made of aluminium and is available in either silver or space grey.

As described, a Class D amplifier system with PFFB technology is used here, with 100 watts per channel available at 8 ohms and as much as 200 watts per channel at just 4 ohms.

In terms of connections, the amplifier offers one analogue and two digital inputs – coaxial and optical S/PDIF – and the speaker systems can be connected via gold-plated binding posts using bananas. A 12 V trigger should also be mentioned.

Prices and availability

The new WiiM Vibelink Amp will soon be available from specialist retailers. The recommended retail price is listed at € 369,-.

Getting to the point

It’s a first for Linkplay Technology Inc., because with the new WiiM Vibelink Amp, the company is presenting a pure stereo integrated amplifier for the first time that completely dispenses with streaming and is therefore designed as a powerful playing partner for the company’s streaming clients.
