Roon Labs LLC. delivered two new updates this week, first Roon Labs 1.7 Build 536, and just two days later Roon Labs Build 537; the actual updates were Roon 1.7 Build 536, with the new Auto Sleep feature at the forefront, but there were a few bugs that were supposed to be fixed in Roon 1.7 Build 537.
The software company Roon Labs LLC. never tires of further improving its media management and multiroom hi-fi audio streaming solution Roon. Almost every month, updates are available for existing users, which on the one hand bring new functions and possibilities, and on the other hand, of course, eliminate the odd error. The last major update was in November 2019, when Roon Labs LLC. Roon presented 1.7. In between there are always smaller updates.
This week there are two updates that Roon Labs LLC. is rolling out. First there was the new version Roon 1.7 Build 536, which offered a number of detailed improvements and also provided various bug fixes and extensions for new hardware solutions from partners. Unfortunately, however, a few new bugs may have crept in, which have now been quickly corrected by the Roon 1.7 Build 537, which is available immediately.
Probably the most important innovation that is now available is that Roon has an Auto Sleep. Supported solutions that are classified as Roon Ready are automatically put into standby mode after some time of inactivity. Which devices this is depends on whether they support it, but according to Roon Labs LLC, there are several, including solutions from Devialet, Linn and Meridian.
Furthermore, the new update brings improvements around the recommendations “New Releases for you” and the “Now Playing” pages. In general, the possibilities for the user to discover new music for himself have been improved even more with the new release.
A kind of “general overhaul” has also been made to the display on various devices, some problems with the display on Google Android and Microsoft Windows should now be a thing of the past.
Also in connection with MQSA as well as DSD were removed, furthermore the support of DSD512 data was implemented in further Roon Ready systems.
The integration of the TIDAL streaming service has also been optimised once again, according to Roon Labs LLC.
The update can be downloaded immediately, and is of course available to existing customers free of charge in its proven form. One thing, however, should be said: If you have not yet downloaded the Roon 1.7 Build 536 update and are about to start with the latest Roon 1.7 Build 537, you will have to be patient with the update, as it involves an update of the database. Depending on the size of the media library this can take a few minutes…
