Normally one should allow speaker systems some space so that they can actually reach their full potential. This is not necessary with the new Lyngdorf CS-1 in-cabinet speaker, as it was explicitly designed for placement in lowboards or sideboards.
Loudspeaker systems of any kind are usually designed in such a way that they require the appropriate amount of free space in order to really show their full potential. This means that they should not be placed too close to the wall, nor directly next to furniture or even in furniture, even if compact loudspeaker systems are referred to as bookshelf loudspeaker systems. Of course, it is not possible to make a generally valid statement here, because some manufacturers can certainly refer to concepts that require at least quite little space around them in order to be able to play freely in the truest sense of the word.
One company that has been working for years on solutions within the field of loudspeaker systems that can be integrated as flexibly as possible into the living space is SL Audio A/S, with the Lyngdorf Audio brand. This is all the more remarkable as Lyngdorf Audio clearly sees itself as a high-end hi-fi manufacturer, an area in which living space friendliness is not always at the top of the priority list. At Lyngdorf Audio, however, the company always strives to combine high-end hi-fi with modern lifestyle, especially in the field of loudspeaker systems.
It is therefore not surprising that SL Audio A/S now presents the latest Lyngdorf Audio solution in the form of the new Lyngdorf CS-1 in-cabinet speaker, which is deliberately designed to be integrated directly into furniture, such as a lowboard or sideboard. It is not surprising that this solution is recommended as the ideal system around a TV set to ensure the best possible TV experience in both picture and sound.
Most importantly, the new Lyngdorf CS-1 In-cabinet Speaker is a full-range speaker system, so it is a full-fledged hi-fi speaker system, the manufacturer promises. The new Lyngdorf CS-1 in-cabinet speaker is designed for horizontal placement, which is understandable considering the usual dimensions of a typical high-quality TV furniture.
The new Lyngdorf CS-1 In-cabinet Speaker is a two-way bass reflex system that does not require any compromises in sound compared to a classic construction and is convincing with a balanced, powerful sound, according to SL Audio A/S.
For this purpose, the company relied on the experience gained with the Lyngdorf FR-1 Two-way Loudspeaker, according to the manufacturer. However, the new Lyngdorf CS-1 In-cabinet Speaker was of course specially optimised and tuned for use directly in TV furniture.
The new Lyngdorf CS-1 in-cabinet speaker uses a 6.5-inch low-midrange driver with an aluminium diaphragm and 35 mm voice coil and a particularly powerful drive. For the high-frequency range, a 1 inch Textile Soft Dome Tweeter with PTC Protection is used. Paired with a natural forward looking bass reflex system, the speaker is designed to reproduce a frequency range between 42 Hz and 22 kHz, with the crossover network starting at 2.2 kHz. The impedance of the new Lyngdorf CS-1 in-cabinet speaker is specified at 4 ohms and the sensitivity at 88 dB. The Lyngdorf CS-1 in-cabinet speaker is designed for amplifiers with a power of 100 Watts.
The manufacturer expressly emphasises the extremely solid construction of the new Lyngdorf CS-1 in-cabinet speaker, whose housing is made of MDF and is strutted several times. This guarantees that a particularly powerful sound with pronounced dynamics is achieved and that in many cases an additional subwoofer can be dispensed with without any problems. In addition, the arrangement of the drivers, especially the angled tweeter, is designed in such a way that the best possible radiation is guaranteed, especially in view of the fact that by placing the speakers in a TV cabinet, and therefore guaranteed not at ear level, and also with a comparatively small distance between the speakers, an almost optimal sound stage with correct stereo imaging is nevertheless guaranteed.
The new Lyngdorf CS-1 In-cabinet Speaker is presented in a discreet black matt finish, so that it can be easily integrated into any living environment and thus disappears almost “invisibly” into a lowboard or sideboard, if desired. Of course, there are rubber feet on the underside, so that the surface of the furniture is protected and the best possible decoupling is achieved.
The new Lyngdorf CS-1 in-cabinet speaker measures 42 cm in width, 20 cm in height and 29.5 cm in depth. The connection panel is also found here in the classic manner on the back, so that the cables are not visible.
“We developed the CS-1 to meet the growing demand for stylish cabinet furniture to house speakers and audio equipment. With the CS-1, customers who prefer to hide speakers for space or visual reasons can enjoy the highest quality music and video sound for which Lyngdorf Audio is widely recognised.”Anker Haldan, CCO, Steinway Lyngdorf
The new Lyngdorf CS-1 In-cabinet Speaker will soon be available at specialist dealers. As already mentioned, this loudspeaker system will be available in a matt black finish for the time being. The recommended retail price is € 539,- per unit.
Getting to the point
As Lyngdorf Audio has always been very keen to develop solutions that are clearly high-end hi-fi, but can also be easily integrated into the living room, it is no surprise that SL Audio A/S now presents the latest Lyngdorf Audio solution, a speaker system in the form of the new Lyngdorf CS-1 in-cabinet speaker, deliberately designed to be integrated directly into furniture, such as a lowboard or sideboard. It is not surprising that this solution is recommended as the ideal system around a TV set to ensure the best possible TV experience in both picture and sound.
