BluOS Crestron Media Player Driver available

The new BluOS Crestron Media Player Driver, certified by Crestron, is now available, according to the developer BluOS. Together with the official BluOS API, this new driver offers Crestron integrators a complete set of tools for implementing Hi-Res multi-room audio.

The Multiroom Hi-res audio streaming system BluOS has been developed from the outset to be integrated as directly as possible into solutions from the custom installation segment. The roots for this were already laid when BluOS was developed by the Canadian hi-fi manufacturer NAD Electronics. With each generation, the possibilities of the streaming platform in this segment were expanded, which ultimately resulted in the creation of a separate division for custom installation solutions alone, Bluesound Professional.

Now BluOS, the software company of Lenbrook International, which is directly responsible for the development of the platform, presents the new BluOS Crestron Media Player Driver. This, in combination with the BluOS API, is a tool that guarantees the direct integration of a BluOS-based multi-room audio streaming system into Crestron-based control solutions, with maximum ease of use and flexibility, as the manufacturer states.

“Crestron is pleased to announce the availability of the updated BluOS media player integration. BluOS offers a rich media streaming experience in audiophile quality that integrates seamlessly with Crestron’s automation solutions and provides an optimal user experience.”

Ekin Binal, Audio Solutions Manager at Crestron

With this new driver, Crestron integrators now have a user interface with many functions, such as browsing and searching, and can optimise the set-up process at the same time. It also provides support for programme-based control of playback, volume and preset recall.

Via the BluOS Crestron Media Player Driver and the corresponding BluOS API, streaming clients based on BluOS are automatically detected, but can also be assigned fixed IP addresses. According to the company, all solutions from Bluesound, Bluesound Professional and NAD Electronics are supported. Via corresponding control panels, the user can not only search in the media library, control playback, retrieve and create playlists, but the usual selection of inputs for the most diverse streaming systems is also available, depending on whether the different solutions have analogue inputs, digital inputs such as optical and coaxial S/PDIF interfaces or HDMI.

“The new BluOS Crestron Media Player driver is a major leap forward in our ability to integrate BluOS with Crestron in a way that gives end-users a similar level of control and browsing capabilities as would be used in the BluOS app.”

Joe de Jesus, Product Manager, Custom Installation Lenbrook International

The new BluOS Crestron Media Player Driver v1.0.1 is available now, for example via the Crestron Application Market, but also in the support area of the BluOS website and on the NAD Electronics website under supported products. The manual for the BluOS Crestron Media Player, which is included in the download, explains in detail all the possibilities it offers.
