- According to the KOSS Corporation, it is a true icon in the field of headphones, which is now available in the latest edition as the KOSS Porta Pro Wireless 2.0.
The KOSS Corporation is clearly one of the headphone manufacturers that played a decisive role in shaping the “mobile revolution”, as the mid-1980s are often referred to in terms of a completely new way of consuming music. It was the Sony WALKMAN that triggered this ‘mobile revolution’ and made music consumption possible almost anywhere and at any time. Headphones from the KOSS Corporation brand were ubiquitous on the streets in those years, especially the KOSS Porta Pro, which came onto the market in 1984.
Now these headphones with their unique design have arrived in the modern age, according to the promise of the US manufacturer, which is now presenting them 40 years after their original market launch in the proven design but with the latest technology as the KOSS Porta Pro Wireless 2.0.
Style-defining design in unchanged form
It goes without saying that KOSS Corporation has not dared to touch or change the company’s iconic design in any way. The new KOSS Porta Pro Wireless 2.0 is therefore essentially exactly as you remember it from the 1980s.
However, according to KOSS Corporation, a few innovations have been incorporated, such as a headband designed as two steel struts for perfect, secure yet comfortable use.
This design also contributes to the very low weight of the KOSS Porta Pro Wireless 2.0, which also contributes to the high wearing comfort. And a clever folding mechanism makes it easy to take the headphones with you wherever you go.
Bluetooth 5.2 for signal transmission or audio pass-through mode
The new KOSS Porta Pro Wireless 2.0 relies on Bluetooth 5.2 for an interference-free signal connection, which should also guarantee a particularly detailed performance over a wide frequency range, from 15 Hz to 25 kHz, although the manufacturer neglects to list the supported Bluetooth codecs in the data sheet.
An integrated microphone can, of course, be used to make phone calls using a smartphone, while the control buttons on the side of the headphones should guarantee convenient operation.
What is exciting is that the new KOSS Porta Pro Wireless 2.0 has a so-called audio pass-through mode, which is nothing more than a USB-C to 3,5 mm analogue audio pass-through cord, i.e. a USB-C to 3,5 mm stereo mini-jack adapter. This means that the headphones can also be used with a cable.
Long battery life of up to 20 hours
The integrated rechargeable battery of the new KOSS Porta Pro Wireless 2.0 is said to allow up to 20 hours of playtime, with charging via the USB-C port. The scope of delivery includes a soft case in which the KOSS Porta Pro Wireless 2.0 can be stored compactly.
