The Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 BT is designed to bring legendary Klipsch sound to any desk in a compact and elegant form.
Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 BT is the latest desktop audio solution from the US company Klipsch. The company is continuing a tradition that was established many, many years ago, after all, the corresponding solutions from Klipsch were already considered to be the outstanding audio solutions in the PC environment in the 1990s. Generations of gamers have relied on systems from Klipsch…
The basic design and concept has hardly changed over the years, and at first glance the latest Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 BT system looks almost exactly like the systems that caused a sensation in the 1990s. However, the developers have of course not failed to design the latest generation based on the most modern features.
However, nothing has changed in terms of the basic task: in the past, as today, the conventional audio systems normally found in the PC environment were not really sufficient to deliver convincing sound. Especially since many desktop PC systems have long since been replaced by notebooks, leaving only the integrated speakers, which have absolutely nothing in common with a decent audio system.
Compact 2.1-channel system
The new Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 BT is in a completely different league, because it is a fine 2.1-channel audio system. Very compact satellites are combined with a powerful subwoofer. The space required for this is manageable, because the two satellites fit easily on any desk and the subwoofer disappears discreetly under the table.
Klipsch horn in miniature
The driver configuration of the new Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 BT proves that it is a fully-fledged audio system that can even be described as a very compact hi-fi system. The satellites are equipped with a combination of 3-inch low-mid drivers and a tweeter that, how could it be otherwise, is a 19 mm PEI dome with a 90° x 40° Micro Tractrix honeycomb driver. Admittedly, it is indeed a very tiny, but nevertheless basically a design based on the legendary Klipschorn.
The subwoofer of the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 BT has a 6.5 inch woofer, which means it can really deliver deep bass, especially since it offers a peak music power of 200 watts. The satellites each have 18 watts at their disposal, the subwoofer has an output of 65 watts. In total, you get around 100 watts RMS.
The connections and all control options are located directly on the right satellite. First and foremost, the new Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 BT is of course connected to the 3.5 mm stereo jack of a PC or notebook in the conventional way using a cable.
3.5 mm stereo jack and Bluetooth
This generation also includes Bluetooth, so that a notebook, smartphone or tablet can also be connected “wirelessly” as a source.
Directly on the satellite, there is a headphone connection in the form of a 3.5 mm stereo mini-jack socket as well as a similarly designed line out.
There is a rotary encoder on the front panel for controlling the volume and for controlling the bass level, i.e. the tuning of the entire system for a balanced sound.
Speaking of which, it should be mentioned that the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 BT can reproduce a frequency range between 35 Hz and 22 kHz, whereby the crossover frequency of the satellites is specified as 3.5 kHz.
The satellites of the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 BT are made of black plastic, specifically ABS, with a closed construction. The satellites are mounted on a solid stand made of black lacquered metal to guarantee optimal radiation towards the listener. A matching speaker grill is included. The satellites weigh no more than 0.95 kg.
The subwoofer of the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 BT is made of MDF and also presents itself in discreet black. The subwoofer is a little heavier than the “small” satellites, weighing in at 5 kg. By the way, the developers used a so-called front-firing subwoofer plus bass reflex system.
The Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 BT is already available in stores. The recommended retail price is € 239.
