Delivering powerful sound on the go has always been the mission of the JBL Flip Series solutions. Year after year, Harman International Industries presents a new generation of these Bluetooth speakers, and now they have already arrived at the sixth generation and thus the JBL Flip 6, which they presented at the Harman ExPLORE 2021 EMEA.
With the new JBL Flip 6, Harman International Industries presents the latest Bluetooth speaker of the JBL Flip Series as part of the Harman ExPLORE 2021 EMEA. Once again, the company wants to offer a particularly flexible way to enjoy music on the go in good quality.
The focus is just as much on robust workmanship as on versatile application options and, of course, simple handling.
JBL Flip 6 – In good tradition
When it comes to Bluetooth speakers, the JBL brand is certainly the leader on the market, thanks in no small part to the products that the company has brought to market over the years as the JBL Flip Series in various generations, nomen est omen, with the current model already in its sixth generation.
The fact that the company itself raises the question of whether it can offer further improvements is not as provocative as it first appears, because it naturally provides a clear confirmation as an answer.
Even more, they have implemented many innovations and even talk about a redesign of a cult object around the new JBL Flip 6, with which they will continue the line of the legendary predecessors.
JBL Pro Sound
Harman International Industries pursues a kind of classification around sound quality with the JBL brand, but it’s a bit surprising that they even talk about JBL Pro Sound in connection with a portable Bluetooth speaker like the JBL Flip 6. So far, the JBL Signature Sound has been used in this class.
Either way, the new JBL Flip 6 is said to excel with powerful sound, making it the perfect on-the-go companion. The Bluetooth speaker now offers a new audio configuration as the JBL Flip 6, whereby the developers rely on a 0.6-inch tweeter, a powerful woofer in Racetrack form with 45 x 80, as well as two passive radiators. The amplifier in Class D provides a power of 20 watts for the woofers, after all, and another 10 watts for the tweeter. The frequency response, for the sake of completeness, should range from 63 Hz to 20 kHz.
In the proven manner, two or even more mobile speaker systems from JBL can of course be combined in the new JBL Flip 6, the manufacturer calls this the PartyBoost function. This is done with the JBL Portable app, which is available for Apple iOS and Google Android.
Bluetooth 5.1 as signal transmission
The new JBL Flip 6 establishes contact with the source device via Bluetooth 5.1, supporting A2DP 1.3 and AVRCP 1.6.
Two source devices can be connected at the same time, such as two smartphones, with playback then alternating between one and then the other.
12 hours of playtime
The new JBL Flip 6’s 4,800 mAh 3.6 V lithium polymer battery is said to offer up to twelve hours of playtime, according to the manufacturer’s promise. It is supposed to be fully charged again after only two and a half hours, and a USB-C interface is provided for that. The corresponding cable is included, but not a suitable power adapter.
Of course, the sixth generation of the Bluetooth speaker is also very robustly made, relying on a new design. The JBL Flip 6 is certified according to IP67 and thus dust and water resistant. Thus, nothing stands in the way of use in any weather conditions and in even adverse outdoor conditions.
“We are pleased to present the latest Bluetooth speaker in the popular JBL Flip series, the Flip 6. In addition to its new logo design, the JBL Flip 6 is even more powerful than its predecessors and features the latest JBL sound technology. In addition to the most popular features of the previous JBL Flip 5, such as PartyBoost and the innovative Racetrack driver, the Flip 6 brings a separate tweeter and two passive radiators to add new depth and power to music.”
Dave Rogers, President, HARMAN Lifestyle Division
The new JBL Flip 6 is offered in as many as nine different color options. For example, customers can choose from Dusty Pink, Grey Stone, River Teal, Fiesta Red, Ocean Blue, Midnight Black, Steel White, Forest Green and Squad. The recommended retail price is stated at €199. The new JBL Flip 6 will be available in stores from November 2021.
Getting to the point
It is already the sixth generation of the Bluetooth speaker of the JBL Flip Series, which is now available with the new JBL Flip 6 in the near future. Once again, the manufacturer promises some major innovations, including even richer sound and a new design. Of course, the new JBL Flip 6 Portable Waterproof Speaker is offered in a wide range of colors, so that there is probably exactly the right model for everyone.
