Hegel H120 and Hegel H190 now Roon Ready

According to Hegel Music Systems, the company has been working on integrating Roon into its own products for quite some time. Now they can present the first solutions that offer the corresponding certification. As of now, the Hegel H120 and Hegel H190 are considered Roon Ready.

Hegel H120 and Hegel H190, with two solutions at once, Hegel Music Systems can announce that they will now successively implement Roon in their own product range. The two stereo integrated amplifiers with integrated streaming client will be designated as Roon Ready with the help of a firmware update. According to the Norwegian hi-fi company, this is just the beginning, with further solutions to follow in the near future.

This is to ensure that users can use their solutions as flexibly as possible with the most diverse platforms and thus access content in the way they prefer.

Roon Ready as a great new feature

Hegel Music Systems describes the implementation of Roon Ready in the Hegel H120 and Hegel H190 systems as a great new feature, and rightly so, since the Roon software from Roon Labs LLC. is clearly the leading platform in the field of media management and multi-room audio streaming.

It is ultimately the only such solution that has such a wide range of functions, convenience and flexibility, and can also be used on a wide variety of systems, regardless of manufacturer.

Hegel SoundEngine 2 as the basis

The two stereo integrated amplifiers Hegel H120 and Hegel H190 have been equipped for streaming since the beginning, whereby the company relies on the Hegel SoundEngine 2 as a basis. So far, it was possible for the user to play back content via the network, first and foremost with the help of the industry standard UPnP, but Apple AirPlay was also supported.

With the help of the latest firmware, Roon is now also added, whereby the solutions are designated as Roon Ready, which means they have passed the corresponding certifications at Roon Labs LLC.

Hegel Music Systems states that they have been working on this implementation for quite some time, but the process was fraught with some unforeseen hurdles that had to be overcome, resulting in the delays.

Hegel H120 and Hegel H190 just the beginning – Hegel H390 and Hegel H590 to follow

In the course of the now announced implementation of Roon in the systems Hegel H120 and Hegel H190, the company Hegel Music Systems also announces that they are already working at full speed on further systems.

Specifically, Hegel Music Systems already lists the products Hegel H390 as well as Hegel H590 and thus two further stereo integrated amplifiers, which can also be designated as Roon Ready in the near future.

Only users of a Hegel H95 and thus the smallest stereo integrated amplifier of the Norwegians will not be able to directly access Roon via this solution, at least according to the current state of affairs, as Hegel Music Systems admits in a statement.

From the practice

As already described, a new firmware is the basis for the certification as Roon Ready, whereby this update for the systems Hegel H120 and Hegel H190 can now be made directly via the corresponding menus of the devices.

Of course, the manufacturer provides detailed instructions in its support section on the website.

The new firmware p5117.31, so the somewhat cryptic designation, brings however also still some further detail improvements with itself, for instance in connection with the volume control of the stereo full amplifiers. The details can be found in the corresponding documentation of the firmware updates for the Hegel H120 and Hegel H190 also in the support section of the Hegel Music Systems website.

Prices and availability

As described, the firmware updates are available free of charge to existing customers and can already be downloaded directly from the Hegel H120 or Hegel H190 systems.

Getting to the point

Even if it took a little longer than originally planned, it is very pleasing that Hegel Music Systems is now also gradually equipping its solutions for the by far most important media management and multi-room audio streaming software Roon from Roon Labs LLC. The two stereo integrated amplifiers Hegel H120 as well as Hegel H190 make the beginning, the systems Hegel H390 as well as Hegel H590 are to follow. Only the Hegel H95 remains, according to the current state of affairs, probably outside.
