Dali Phantom E-WR Speaker Series – IP65 certified in-ceiling speakers
At ISE 2024 in Barcelona, Dali A/S will present two new in-ceiling speaker systems that are resistant to moisture and dust, and which are intended to establish the new Dali Phantom E-WR Speaker Series, namely the Dali Phantom E-60 WR and Dali Phantom E-80 WR solutions.

The custom installation segment is becoming increasingly important for more and more manufacturers in the speaker system sector, including the Danish company Dali A/S, which is now expanding this area once again at ISE 2024 in Barcelona. The new Dali Phantom E-WR Speaker Series is an extraordinary range of built-in speaker systems.
The new Dali Phantom E-WR Speaker Series comprises two products to start with, namely the Dali Phantom E-60 WR and Dali Phantom E-80 WR. The special feature of these solutions is that they are in-ceiling speaker systems that are IP65-certified and can therefore withstand moisture and dust, making them suitable for use outdoors, for example on a covered terrace, as well as indoors, for example in wellness areas.
Dali Phantom E-60 WR and Dali Phantom E-80 WR – Weather Resistant Speakers
The solutions of the new Dali Phantom E-WR Speaker Series are therefore so-called Weather Resistant Speakers, as Dali A/S calls them, whereby the special feature is that they are designed to perform at a high quality level, but are equipped with the manufacturer’s well-known technologies. The aim is to achieve outstanding sound quality even under difficult conditions.
The systems in the Dali Phantom E-WR Speaker Series are intended for use wherever there is high humidity and extreme temperatures, both indoors and outdoors.
As we have already mentioned, the solutions are IP65-certified, which means that they can be used in a temperature range between -20° C and 60° C and humidity levels of up to 100 per cent. They are also said to be resistant to indirect splash water, dust and sand, as the company emphasises.
The solutions in the Dali Phantom E-WR Speaker Series are based on a low-midrange driver with a waterproof polypropylene cone and natural rubber surround specially developed for this product line, whereby the Dali Phantom E-60 WR uses a 6.5-inch driver and the Dali Phantom E-80 WR an 8-inch driver.
The tweeter is identical in both speakers, with both the Dali Phantom E-60 WR and the Dali Phantom E-80 WR using a 25 mm textile dome tweeter, which is housed in a separate, decoupled unit and arranged in such a way that colouration from the low-mid driver is prevented at the outset.
In addition, the drivers have an inclination of 5°, which means that a radiation pattern precisely tuned to the primary listening area can be achieved.
Dali A/S therefore promises a performance for the Dali Phantom E-60 WR and Dali Phantom E-80 WR with a rich bass response, clearly defined mids and clarity and detail in the upper frequency range.
It should also be mentioned that the crossover used in the models of the new Dali Phantom E-WR Speaker Series is based on the same high-quality components as those used in conventional speaker systems in the hi-fi and home cinema segment.
Flexible installation
Dali A/S emphasises that the two models Dali Phantom E-60 WR and Dali Phantom E-80 WR, like all of the company’s custom installation solutions, have been optimised for particularly flexible and simple installation. For example, these in-ceiling speakers can be installed without special tools and the levels in the mid and high frequencies can be individually adjusted if required.
The speaker grille, which adorns both models, is held in place by magnets and can of course be painted over.
Prices and availability
The models of the new Dali Phantom E-WR Speaker Series celebrated their premiere these days at ISE 2024 in Barcelona and are expected to be available in March 2024, according to the manufacturer. The Dali Phantom E-60 WR is priced at € 299,- and the Dali Phantom E-80 WR at € 399,-.
