Cambridge Audio uses HIGH END Vienna 2026 to make a precise addition to its All-in-One portfolio: the Cambridge Audio EVO One is now also available in a matt black finish as the Cambridge Audio EVO One Midnight Black. It gives the compact Wireless Streaming System a second design option alongside the existing walnut veneer version. The engineering remains unchanged, combining streaming, TV connectivity, phono input, colour display and a 14 driver system designed for room-filling sound within a single cabinet. Midnight Black gives the EVO One a quieter visual brief

The Cambridge Audio EVO One was conceived from the outset as a complete system for real living spaces, not as a conventional stack of components reduced in size. At just 13 cm high, it can sit on a sideboard, lowboard or media unit without asking the room to accommodate separate HiFi electronics, speaker cables and loudspeakers. Midnight Black sharpens that idea. It is intended to recede visually and, especially beside a television, should appear less prominent than the existing walnut veneer version.

The central 6,8 inch colour display remains part of the design. Control is available through the Cambridge Audio StreamMagic app for Apple iOS and Google Android, via the controls on the front panel or with the supplied remote handset. A built-in 7-band equaliser and selectable room placement compensation allow the sound to be adjusted to the position of the unit, the acoustics of the room and personal preference.

Technically, the Cambridge Audio EVO One Midnight Black corresponds to the version already available. At its centre is the fourth generation of the Cambridge Audio StreamMagic platform. According to the manufacturer, it supports Spotify Connect Lossless, Qobuz Connect, TIDAL Connect, Deezer, Amazon Music, Roon Ready, UPnP and its own internet radio client. Hi-res Audio is handled via WiFi or Ethernet up to Linear PCM with 32 Bit and 192 kHz.

Wireless playback is covered by Bluetooth, Apple AirPlay 2 and Google Cast. For multiroom use, the EVO One can be integrated into Google Home, Apple AirPlay and Roon. The HDMI eARC connection also makes the system particularly interesting as a compact TV audio solution, as volume can be controlled conveniently using the television remote.

Traditional sources have not been ignored either. An integrated MM phono stage allows a turntable with MM cartridge to be connected directly, while an analogue Line In accepts additional sources. Digital connectivity is provided by an S/PDIF optical input and USB-A for storage media.

14 drivers and 700 Watt RMS

For playback, Cambridge Audio uses a 3-way concept with a total of 14 drive units in the EVO One. Four tweeters and four midrange drivers fire forward and to the sides, a layout intended to create a broader soundfield than a conventional front-facing arrangement. They are joined by six woofers operating in a sealed cabinet.

Cambridge Audio specifies total amplifier power at 700 Watt RMS. That places the EVO One well beyond the idea of a simple wireless speaker and closer to a compact complete system for music, streaming, vinyl and TV sound.
