Block MHF-50 – Flexible Micro HiFi System
Compact HiFi systems have always been an important product group for the German company Audioblock GmbH. Now the range has been expanded to include a particularly versatile, yet compact solution that can be used anywhere: the new Block MHF-50.
- The latest solution from Audioblock GmbH, the Block MHF-50, is a particularly flexible micro HiFi system.
The German company Audioblock GmbH has been dedicated to compact HiFi systems, or compact systems as they call them, for many years, and aims to appeal to users who want to use a classic HiFi system in the smallest of spaces instead of just a wireless speaker, for example. The compact systems from Audioblock GmbH, such as the latest solution in this product group, the Block MHF-50, are correspondingly flexible.
The new Block MHF-50 is Audioblock GmbH’s smallest compact system to date, but the German specialist promises that there is no need to compromise on functionality.
A classic micro HiFi system
Even though Audioblock GmbH itself refers to the new Block MHF-50 as a compact system, it is clear that this is a classic micro HiFi system.
The system consists of the network receiver as the base plus two compact bookshelf speakers, whereby the network receiver measures no more than 300 mm in width, 234 mm in depth and 106 mm in height and thus weighs in at 2,1 kg. The speaker systems are also very compact, with dimensions of 260 mm in height, 172 mm in width and 228 mm in depth. The speakers weigh in at 2,6 kg, as the data sheet reveals.
The network receiver is made of aluminium and is available in black, silver or white. Naturally, the speakers are also available in the different colours to create a uniform overall look.
From CD to radio to streaming
As already mentioned, the new Block MHF-50 is also an immensely versatile system that leaves nothing to be desired. Firstly, there is an audio CD player designed as a slot-in drive, and there is also a USB port to which you can connect appropriate storage media to play audio data directly.
The Block MHF-50 is also equipped with a so-called triple tuner for radio, meaning you can use DAB+ and Internet radio in addition to FM. There are 20 presets available for each type of reception and, of course, the system can be used as a ‘radio alarm clock’ in the bedroom via an alarm clock function and a sleep timer.
The Block MHF-50 Micro HiFi system can be integrated into the network via an integrated WiFi module and is then initially available as a dlna-certified UPnP streaming client, with the Oktov app providing simple control. It is also possible to use Spotify via Spotify Connect.
If you want to integrate smartphones directly as a source, you can do this in the simplest case without a network via Bluetooth, which should also be mentioned at this point.
It is also important to mention that there is an analogue input at the rear of the Block MHF-50 in the form of a pair of RCA sockets.
Small, but sufficiently powerful
The new Block MHF-50 is equipped with an integrated amplifier that delivers two 30-watt outputs to speaker systems with an impedance of 4 ohms. Admittedly, this solution is not a performance miracle, but the Micro HiFi system doesn’t want to be, and in combination with the speakers included in the scope of delivery, it should easily be enough to provide appealing sound in the bedroom, children’s room or bathroom, as Audioblock GmbH promises.
There is also a connection for headphones, which is located directly on the front of the device as a 35, mm stereo mini jack.
Simple control
The Block MHF-50 has a large colour display on the front, the brightness of which can of course be dimmed as required. This is flanked by numerous buttons and rotary encoders, guaranteeing simple, convenient control directly on the device.
Prices and availability
The new Block MHF-50 will be available immediately from specialist retailers in silver, black and white, as described. The recommended retail price is listed at € 499,-.
Getting to the point
The German company Audioblock GmbH has always been known for its highly integrated solutions, including so-called compact systems. The new Block MHF-50 is the latest addition to this range and is the most compact system in its class to date. Nevertheless, according to Audioblock GmbH, there is no need to compromise in terms of flexibility, as everything you would expect from a modern micro HiFi system is available here, from audio CD playback and radio to streaming via network or Bluetooth.
