Yamaha SR-C20A und Yamaha SR-B20A – Soundbars in a particularly compact form

Small in size, but big in sound – this is the promise of Yamaha Music Europe GmbH for the latest Yamaha SR-C20A and Yamaha SR-B20A soundbar systems. These solutions are also on the cutting edge in terms of connectivity and are also offered at a particularly attractive price.

The fact that an additional audio solution around the television set is indispensable nowadays has fortunately become a generally accepted fact. It is not surprising that sound-bar systems are the preferred way of providing the flat TV with an attractive sound, as these are the easiest solutions to integrate into the living environment and often offer impressive flexibility and can therefore be used for a variety of tasks beyond television.

Consumer electronics companies such as Yamaha Music Europe GmbH have a wide range of solutions of this type, and the range is constantly expanding, including the Japanese, who are now presenting two more soundbars, the Yamaha SR-C20A and Yamaha SR-B20A.

Small in size and big in sound, this is the motto that the developers followed for both the new Yamaha SR-C20A and the new Yamaha SR-B20A. The aim is to make it particularly easy for users to integrate these audio solutions into their living environment, even if the space around the TV set is limited. The fact that there is no need to sacrifice rich sound and flexibility is ensured by impeccable equipment and trend-setting connectivity. In addition, and this is not insignificant, the two new systems Yamaha SR-C20A and Yamaha SR-B20A are offered at particularly attractive prices.

The Yamaha SR-C20A and Yamaha SR-B20A systems are solutions that do not require the use of a widely used external subwoofer. The subwoofer is directly integrated, so that a rich bass is still guaranteed. However, if desired, the Yamaha SR-B20A can also be fitted with an optional external subwoofer.

As already mentioned, the Yamaha SR-C20A is intended to be a particularly compact system, with a width of just 600 mm and a height of 64 mm. The Yamaha SR-B20A is slightly wider at 910mm, but is a bit flatter at 53mm.

So both solutions should be able to be used anywhere, although the Yamaha SR-C20A and Yamaha SR-B20A systems can of course not only be placed directly in front of or under the TV on a piece of furniture, but also mounted directly on the wall. These solutions are therefore not only recommended for smaller living rooms, but also for rooms such as bedrooms, children’s rooms or workrooms, wherever you don’t want to miss out on good sound with a smaller TV set.

The Yamaha SR-C20A is equipped with two full-range drivers, plus a bass speaker as subwoofer plus two passive cones. The Yamaha SR-B20A is designed as a true two-way system, and even has two integrated subwoofers, so that the sound is really rich for the accurate reproduction of film sound.

Interestingly, both systems are designed for Dolby Digital and Virtual Surround, and the Yamaha SR-B20A can also handle content encoded in DTS and can also deliver DTS Virtual X. The manufacturer thus promises a surprisingly lifelike Virtual Reality experience without the need for complex speaker installations.

Four sound modes are available on the new Yamaha SR-C20A and Yamaha SR-B20A soundbar systems, with Stereo, Movie, Standard and Game covering the most essential requirements to adapt playback to a wide variety of content.

A key feature of both soundbar systems from Yamaha Music Europe GmbH is the so-called Yamaha ClearVoice Technology, which is designed to ensure optimum speech intelligibility, especially when the rest of the action in the film, such as sounds and music, is presented as powerfully and impressively as possible.

The Yamaha SR-C20A and the Yamaha SR-B20A are equipped with an optical S/PDIF interface, an analogue input, and certainly with an HDMI input, which of course supports an ARC, i.e. an audio return channel, as well as HDMI CEC. HDMI CEC guarantees central control via the TV’s remote control.

Both systems are also equipped with Bluetooth, so that smartphones and tablets can be used as sources. Of course, an Amazon Alexa device can also be connected to the Yamaha SR-C20A and Yamaha SR-B20A soundbar systems. This opens up the whole world of streaming, because all that is required is the appropriate app on the mobile device or it can be accessed via Amazon Alexa.

Bluetooth is also used to ensure convenient control of the soundbar systems, as the Yamaha Soundbar Controller App is also available for Apple iOS and Google Android.

The two soundbar systems Yamaha SR-C20A and Yamaha SR-B20A present themselves in a discreet matt black or matt white, with the front covered with a corresponding textile covering. LED displays are used to show the most important information at a glance. Of course, both solutions also feature simple operation directly on the unit. An infrared remote control is naturally also part of the package.

According to information currently available, the two systems Yamaha SR-C20A and Yamaha SR-B20A will probably be available from specialist dealers in the course of autumn 2020. The manufacturer is quoting a recommended retail price of € 252 for the new Yamaha SR-C20A and € 272 for the new Yamaha SR-B20A.
