With the sonoro ORCHESTRA, the German company sonoro audio GmbH presented loudspeaker systems for the first time, in the form of compact bookshelf speakers. Now the sonoro GRAND ORCHESTRA are the first floor-standing speaker systems.
sonoro GRAND ORCHESTRA, with this the German company sonoro audio GmbH now presents for the first time floorstanding speaker systems and thus the big siblings of the sonoro ORCHESTRA, which they already presented in May 2020. The company describes the new sonoro GRAND ORCHESTRA as slim premium systems that are said to harmonize with a wide range of amplifiers and feature a fine balance of elegance and impressive sound.
But even if the new sonoro GRAND ORCHESTRA is described as a particularly flexible solution, the company naturally has its sights set on a solution from its own product range that is intended to complement them perfectly, namely the sonoro MAESTRO HiFi Receiver.
sonoro GRAND ORCHESTRA – The big siblings of the sonoro ORCHESTRA
sonoro audio GmbH has been known for years as a specialist for all-in-one systems, i.e. compact audio solutions that can be placed anywhere in the home. The company relies in a proven manner on solutions that can be used flexibly as stand-alone systems.
With the sonoro MAESTRO Receiver, however, they changed this strategy a bit, because for the first time, they presented a receiver, as the name already suggests, which thus relies on a pair of external speaker systems.
Even though sonoro audio GmbH can boast of developing all-in-one audio systems with fine sound, a solution consisting of electronics plus additional speakers naturally offers an even better sound experience.
With the sonoro ORCHESTRA, the matching speakers from sonoro audio GmbH followed, in the form of compact bookshelf speaker systems.
Now the company is going one step further and presenting the new sonoro GRAND ORCHESTRA, so-called floor-standing speaker systems, which, as described in the introduction, are described as slim premium systems and can thus meet even high expectations in terms of the quality of the performance.
In order to actually live up to their own claim of offering solutions for easy integration into any living environment, the developers of the new sonoro GRAND ORCHESTRA focused on a particularly elegant look, according to the manufacturer. Rounded housing edges, high-quality surfaces and a perfect finish are said to distinguish this solution.
The chassis have been seamlessly recessed into the baffle here, and you should not see any screwing.
The wooden cabinets are hand-sanded and given a high-quality matte finish, with details in black aluminum serving as appealing accents.
The new sonoro GRAND ORCHESTRA is designed as a two-and-a-half-way bass reflex system, relying on two 6-inch woofers with polyethylene-coated paper cone, die-cast basket and powerful drive based on double magnets. For the tweeter range is a ribbon tweeter, a so-called AMT, ie Air Motion Transformer, with neodymium magnet as the drive responsible. The bass reflex system is reproduced by means of two flow-optimized openings on the back.
A carefully tuned crossover is supposed to guarantee homogeneous imaging and optimal timing for a precise performance.
It is also important that the cabinet is designed in such a way that neither standing waves nor cabinet resonances can negatively influence the imaging.
The frequency range that can be reproduced by this speaker system is specified as 38 Hz up to 32 kHz.
Suitable for a wide range of amplifiers
The manufacturer explicitly states that the new sonoro GRAND ORCHESTRA can be combined with a wide range of amplifiers, including solutions that have a comparatively low output power, as is the case with amplifier systems based on tube technology. According to the data sheet, this speaker system with an impedance of 4 ohms and an efficiency of 87.5 dB is recommended for amplifiers with a power output between 50 and 170 watts.
However, and this should be mentioned again, one has probably anyway above all the said sonoro MAESTRO receiver as an ideal playing partner in focus …
The new sonoro GRAND ORCHESTRA measures 989 mm in height, if you add the feet, you get 1,042 mm. The width without feet is given with 210 mm, for the footprint you have to add the foot again and thus comes to 280 mm. The manufacturer specifies a depth of 349 mm. The promised solid build quality is reflected in a weight of 24.8 kg per speaker system.
Prices and availability
The new sonoro GRAND ORCHESTRA is to be available immediately, first and foremost directly from the sonoro audio GmbH web store, but also from specialist retailers. Customers will be able to choose between black and white, with both variants featuring a matte finish. The recommended retail price is listed at € 1,999.
Getting to the point
As slim premium floor-standing speaker systems, which also harmonize well with smaller amplifiers and tubes and which succeed the fine balance between elegance and impressive sound, sonoro audio GmbH describes the new sonoro GRAND ORCHESTRA. Just like their smaller siblings sonoro ORCHESTRA, however, these are probably primarily interesting for those who rely on the sonoro MAESTRO receiver and are looking for the right speakers for it.
