Ruark R-CD100 CD Player – New CD transport for Ruark 100 Series

The new audio CD player, which Ruark Audio is now offering as part of this product line in the form of the Ruark R-CD100 CD player, is a flexible extension to the Ruark 100 Series products.

Story Highlights
  • As part of the Ruark 100 Series, Ruark Audio now presents a new audio CD player, or rather a CD transport, the Ruark R-CD100 CD player, which can be used as an extension for all Ruark 100 Series solutions.

Ruark Audio‘s solutions are all characterised by the fact that the company develops audio systems that skilfully play with a certain vintage charm, but rely on modern features for flexible use and particularly appealing quality. The Ruark 100 Series solutions stand out in particular, a product line inspired by audio systems from the 1970s, but at the same time representing state-of-the-art All-in-One systems that leave nothing to be desired.

Now there is even an optional extension available for solutions such as the Ruark R410 Integrated Music System, Ruark R610 Music Console or Ruark R810 High Fidelity Radiogram in the form of the new Ruark R-CD100 CD player.

Design in the style of the 1970s

As already mentioned, the developers of the entire Ruark 100 Series play with the design of the 1970s, a time when it was still quite common for consumer electronics solutions to be orientated towards the style of high-quality furniture, thus playing with elegant wood applications in combination with metal elements and thus developing a very special charm.

Of course, all of this also applies to the Ruark 100 Series solutions and thus to the new Ruark R-CD100 CD player, which is therefore the perfect partner for all Ruark 100 Series systems in terms of appearance alone.

With dimensions of just 175 mm in width, 167 mm in depth and 45 mm in height and a weight of 1,2 kg, the Ruark R-CD100 CD player with its housing made of walnut wood and aluminium on the top can easily be placed anywhere.

Designed as a slot-loading CD mechanism

The Ruark R-CD100 CD player is designed as a slot-loading CD player, which contributes to its elegant appearance as there is no disc tray to be seen. The manufacturer promises very precise reading of the discs (CD-DA, CD-R and CD-RW) for the drive used here, as well as very quiet operation, as the CD mechanism has been carefully insulated. A discreet button on the front for ejecting the discs is the only control element on the Ruark R-CD100 CD player.

CD transport

Although Ruark Audio refers to it as a CD player, strictly speaking it is actually only a CD transport, as the Ruark R-CD100 CD player itself does not have a D/A converter, so the signal processing is carried out via the Ruark 100 Series solutions, to which the drive is connected via USB.

The manufacturer refers to a Plug & Play USB 3.0 interface, which is of course downwards compatible with USB 2.0 and features a USB-C port.

In addition to data traffic, the Ruark R-CD100 CD player is also powered via USB, for the sake of completeness.

Prices and availability

The new Ruark R-CD100 CD player should be available from specialist retailers these days, as described, in the walnut finish. The recommended retail price is listed at € 299,-.

Getting to the point

The solutions of the Ruark 100 Series are all designed in the outstanding design of the 1970s, but are designed as state-of-the-art All-in-One audio systems, especially for streaming. For those who want to use audio CDs in addition to streaming via the network, integrating TV sets and radio, Ruark Audio now offers the optional Ruark R-CD100 CD player extension. Although it is referred to as a CD player, it is actually a simple and easy-to-use USB plug & play extension for playing audio CDs via all Ruark 100 Series systems.
