Once again, Monitor Audio Ltd. is about to change the generation of the very successful Monitor Audio Silver Series. This presents itself with a new design, numerous acoustic innovations and the proven model variety as Monitor Audio Silver Series 7G.
Since its introduction, it has set new standards in terms of sound quality, workmanship and price-performance ratio, and the latest generation, the Monitor Audio Silver Series 7G, is supposed to do the same.
It’s not hard to see that this is now already the seventh generation of the Monitor Audio Silver Series, originally introduced in 1999. A generation that, according to the specialist Monitor Audio Ltd, is supposed to set itself even further apart from the competition.
Monitor Audio Silver Series 7G – A remarkable advancement
Monitor Audio Ltd. states that the new Monitor Audio Silver Series 7G is a remarkable evolution in every respect. They are aware of the high user demands that they have to meet with this product series, and to ensure that this is also the case with the seventh generation, they have made significant improvements from the technical features to the design.
What has remained unchanged is the requirement to guarantee a particularly attractive price-performance ratio in order to be able to appeal to the broadest possible customer base, both in the stereo and home cinema sectors.
Broadly positioned for stereo and home theater
In order to achieve exactly this, namely to offer a speaker series for a wide range of applications in stereo as well as home theater, the company relies on an impressive variety of models of the Monitor Audio Silver Series 7G.
The Monitor Audio Silver Series 7G includes no less than eight models, starting with floorstanding speaker systems, shelf speakers, center speakers, surround speakers and Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers.
Strictly speaking, you would also have to add a subwoofer, but more about that in the following.
The model range starts with the Monitor Audio Silver 50 G7 compact speaker system, and the Monitor Audio Silver 100 7G is another bookshelf speaker system. The new model generation includes no less than three floor-standing speaker systems, namely the Monitor Audio Silver 200 7G, Monitor Audio Silver 300 7G and Monitor Audio 500 7G. The Monitor Audio Silver C250 7G is the center speaker of the series, and the Monitor Audio Silver FX 7G and Monitor Audio Silver AMS 7G models offer a bipole/dipole speaker and a Dolby Atmos-enabled top speaker.
Clear, elegant design
Probably the most striking innovation concerns the design of the Monitor Audio Silver Series 7G. The manufacturer describes this as a beautiful, clear and elegant design. The declared goal was to make the design a bit fresher, more modern, in line with the current trend; the speaker systems are supposed to present themselves clearly and downright puristically, so that they can be easily integrated into any modern living ambience.
This also includes adapting the selection of different surfaces to the current trends. Thus one offers deep-glossy black high polish lacquer just like a very noble satin white. In addition, there are three real wood veneers, namely ash, natural walnut and black oak. In this regard, it is particularly emphasized that high-quality veneers were chosen, which are not normally found in this price range.
However, one restriction has to be mentioned in this context: The Monitor Audio Silver FX 7G and Monitor Audio Silver AMS 7G models are only available in high-gloss black and satin white, but not in the three real wood veneer versions.
The series’ floor-standing speaker systems are perched on outrigger feet with turned metal trim, and these are said to provide maximum “stability” on both carpet and hard floors.
To complete the description of the new design, it’s worth mentioning that the speaker systems feature a cover that is held in place by magnets. The speaker grill is also said to be covered with high-quality woven fabrics.
The manufacturer’s new logo was also used, although it was implemented discreetly – noble British understatement.
Innovative and uncompromising technology as the basis of the new Monitor Audio Silver Series 7G
When it comes to the technical features of the new Monitor Audio Silver Series 7G, the first thing to mention is the completely newly developed drivers.
Thus, new Monitor Audio RST II drivers for the midrange and woofer range are used, which, according to the manufacturer, should have a stiffer profile than ever before. For this purpose, the company relies on a new aluminum alloy. To optimize the diaphragm and geometry structure for a particularly smooth, distortion-free sound, one relies on a new hexagonal shape of the depression. As before, the drivers can withstand even very high loads without any problems and thus even high levels can be reproduced without any problems.
Also new are the tweeters, which are the Monitor Audio C-CAM-Gold tweeters, which not only have a completely new magnet structure and a new housing chamber, but also feature a new Uniform Dispersion Waveguide II and thus guarantee a particularly natural, realistic and detailed high-frequency reproduction.
To underscore the attention to detail with which the developers went to work on the new Monitor Audio Silver Series 7G, the manufacturer cites a new driver bezel that makes the driver surround visually disappear. This is not only essential for optimal integration into the baffle and thus for the best possible radiation, the harmonious sound image is thus also reflected in a harmonious appearance, the “naked” technology thus fade into the background.
Speaking of details that are not visible, but which are crucial for the fine sound, there is of course the crossover, which has also been improved in the new seventh generation of the speaker series. The optimal adaptation to the newly developed drivers should contribute its part to a controlled, clean sound with perfect tonal balance.
And the subwoofer?
We have already mentioned that a suitable subwoofer should not be missing, not only for home cinema, but also for classic stereo and is always an integral part of every Monitor Audio Ltd. speaker series.
It is interesting that Monitor Audio Ltd. states that the Monitor Audio Silver W-12 from the sixth generation has proven itself and that there is no reason to change the generation. The Monitor Audio Silver W-12 is thus seamlessly adopted for the now present seventh generation and also keeps the abbreviation 6G as a sign for the sixth generation for reasons of transparency.
First delivery of the Monitor Audio Silver Series 7G in October 2021
The production of the new model generation is already running at full speed, according to the English, and it is currently expected that the first models of the Monitor Audio Silver Series 7G will probably be available in October 2021.
As described, the new Monitor Audio Silver Series 7G starts with the Monitor Audio Silver 50 7G and Monitor Audio Silver 100 7G bookshelf speaker systems, which are priced at €798 and €1,058 per pair, respectively. The Monitor Audio Silver 200 7G, Monitor Audio Silver 300 7G and Monitor Audio Silver 500 7G floorstanding speaker systems will be available at € 1,598, € 1,998 and € 2,398 per pair, respectively. The Monitor Audio Silver C250 7G center speaker is priced at €849 per piece, and the Monitor Audio Silver FX 7G will cost €848 per pair. If you want to upgrade your home theater for Dolby Atmos, you’ll have to budget €898 for the Monitor Audio Silver AMS 7G pair.
Getting to the point
At Monitor Audio Ltd. it has been a tradition for many years that they always present speaker series that are broadly positioned and thus suitable for a wide variety of tasks. This of course also applies to the new, now already seventh generation of the Monitor Audio Silver Series, which will be presented from October 2021 as Monitor Audio Silver Series 7G with two bookshelf, three floorstanding speakers and also a center as well as a bipole/dipole and Dolby Atmos-enabled speaker. Not only the design of the models has been refined, the underlying technology has even been completely redeveloped. Nothing has changed in the fact that this model series can offer an outstanding price-performance ratio, so that the English are convinced that they have raised the bar with the new Monitor Audio Silver Series 7G.
