M&K M90 – The new flagship of the M&K M Series

The M&K M Series loudspeaker systems are a milestone in the field of high-quality, attractively priced loudspeaker systems for home cinema. This product line is now being expanded with the new M&K M90.

The new M&K M90 is designed to bring out the excellent sound of the M&K M Series in larger rooms, according to Miller & Kreisel’s promise for the new M&K Sound brand solution.

Like the other M&K M Series solutions, the new M&K M90 is designed to be optimised for very low-profile wall mounting, and it ranks ahead of the existing M&K M50 and M&K M70 solutions.

It is clear that the new M&K M90 is the new flagship of the M&K M Series and is intended to make the product line even more versatile.

The M&K M Series has the task of bringing the proven M&K sound to the living room. This is the sound that users of large studio and home cinema installations appreciate and that served as the basis for the realisation of major blockbusters such as Star Wars or Pirates of the Caribbean.

The discreet shape of the M Series cabinets means that more bass is needed in expansive listening rooms. The M90 therefore has two additional bass-midrange drivers, which simultaneously extend the previous frequency range of the M70 and ensure better bass reproduction.

Designed for larger rooms

The new M&K M90 uses four low-mid drivers with glass fibre cones, each with a diameter of 4 inches. This is to ensure that, as just mentioned, the lowest frequency ranges are covered even better than with its smaller brothers, the M&K M50 and M&K M70.

The low-midrange drivers in the new M&K M90 are combined with a 1-inch diameter coated silk dome neodymium tweeter.

The drivers were individually installed in reinforced housings to reduce distortion and resonance to a minimum, as the manufacturer states. Especially the very slim design of the M&K M90 makes this constructive measure necessary.

These features ensure that not only low frequencies, but also voices and effects are reproduced with ease, especially when used in home cinema.

A well thought-out dispersion pattern ensures that the M&K M90 can not only be used for the left and right channels or the surround channels, but is also the first choice as a centre speaker.

With an impedance of 4 ohms, an efficiency of 89 dB and a nominal load of 150 watts, the system is designed for amplifiers with an output of between 25 and 200 watts and can reproduce a frequency range between 70 Hz and 20 kHz. The crossovers intervene here at 600 Hz and 2 kHz respectively.

Optimised for wall mounting

As we have already mentioned, first and foremost the new M&K M90 is designed for wall mounting, whereby the corresponding fixture is of course part of the scope of delivery. It must be mentioned that the bracket is equipped with specially developed damping pads.

With dimensions of 80 x 13 x 8.5 cm, the M&K M90 weighs 5.62 kg.

Discreet design and flexible construction of home cinema systems

The M&K M90 follows the guiding principle “form follows function” and therefore relies on a slim, elegant design language. The company is convinced that there is often no room for large floor-standing loudspeakers in many living room concepts or that the set-up is not optimally realisable. The on-wall design of the M&K M Series is intended to offer users flexibility and make installation easy.

The manufacturer also states that with the M&K M40T Tripole, the M&K M Series also offers a multi-pole side and rear speaker in a compact format, which serves as an ideal complement to an installation around the new M&K M90. The special design ensures that the sound is evenly distributed throughout the room with the best possible sound quality.

The new M&K M90 should be available in specialist shops these days. It is offered in white and black and has a recommended retail price of € 950.
