FiiO SNOWSKY NATURE – Closed-back Over-ear Headphones with HiFi Credentials at a Modest Price

The FiiO SNOWSKY NATURE takes a refreshingly straightforward approach, combining a large dynamic driver with easy operation from portable sources in a closed-back full-size design. Detachable dual-entry cabling supports optional balanced connections, while replaceable ear pads improve long-term practicality. With its low impedance and integrated headset functions, the headphones are equally suited to music listening, calls, video conferences and gaming.

Story Highlights
  • A dynamic 50 mm composite driver, 24 Ohm impedance and dual 3.5 mm cable inputs make the FiiO SNOWSKY NATURE an unusually flexible pair of full-size headphones at an entry-level price.

Full-size wired headphones can become surprisingly demanding once a powerful headphone amplifier enters the equation. The FiiO SNOWSKY NATURE is intended to avoid precisely that obstacle. Guangzhou FiiO Electronics Technology Co. Ltd. has designed the closed-back over-ear model with a low impedance of 24 Ohm and sensitivity of 101 dB/mW, allowing it to be used with smartphones, portable Audio Players and compact USB DACs as well as stationary equipment. A dynamic 50 mm driver, detachable cabling and replaceable ear pads complete a deliberately focused specification.

Designed for Smartphones and Portable USB DACs

The electrical specifications are central to the intended versatility of the FiiO SNOWSKY NATURE. Its nominal impedance is rated at 24 Ohm at 1 kHz, accompanied by a sensitivity of 101 dB/mW or 117 dB/Vrms at the same frequency.

A particularly powerful headphone amplifier should therefore not be required. FiiO lists smartphones, compact Digital Audio Players, notebooks and USB DACs among the suitable sources. Simple USB dongles should likewise be capable of providing sufficient listening levels.

The headphones can, of course, also be connected to stationary DAC and headphone amplifier combinations. Their specifications simply leave the user free to choose between portable and desktop equipment.

Separate Cable Connection for Each Ear Cup

Both ear cups have their own 3.5 mm TRS socket. The cable can be detached completely, making replacement straightforward if it becomes damaged or if a different cable is preferred.

Separate signal routing to the left and right ear cups also permits balanced operation. This requires an optional cable with the appropriate wiring, as the supplied cable is intended for a conventional 3.5 mm connection.

FiiO includes a 1.5 m cable made from oxygen-free copper. It terminates in a 3.5 mm TRRS connector at the source end and incorporates both a microphone and control buttons. Telephone calls, video conferences, gaming and media control are therefore covered without requiring a separate headset.

Replaceable Ear Pads without Tools

The synthetic leather ear pads are secured by a twist-lock mechanism. Turning and removing them releases the pads from the ear cups without the need for tools. Cleaning and subsequent replacement can consequently be handled by the user.

A sliding headband provides adjustment for different head sizes, while the over-ear pads are designed to surround the ears and seal against the head. Together with the closed-back ear cups, they are intended to support a secure fit and effective passive isolation.

The FiiO SNOWSKY NATURE weighs 280 g without its cable, keeping it comparatively light for a closed full-size headphone.

Black or Apricot with Printed Wood Grain

SNOWSKY offers two finishes. Black uses a darker colour scheme, while Apricot presents the design in a lighter form. Both versions feature a wood-grain pattern across the outer ear-cup covers.

The visual effect does not come from solid wood. FiiO applies the pattern to the plastic surface using a water-transfer printing process. The ear cups themselves are made from ABS plastic, combined with yokes manufactured from aluminium alloy.

This material mix allows the headphones to retain the wood-inspired appearance while limiting their overall weight.

A Three-layer Approach to the 50 mm Diaphragm

The dynamic 50 mm driver uses a composite diaphragm rather than a single material. Its construction brings together three elements with different mechanical properties.

A 19 µm PET layer provides the rigid structural basis. This is paired with a 30 µm TPU layer chosen for its elasticity and high internal damping. Carbon Black forms the third part of the composite.

According to FiiO, the material combination is intended to reduce distortion while balancing rigidity, controlled diaphragm movement and long-term stability. The driver is partnered with a dedicated magnetic circuit and a corresponding voice-coil construction. Particular attention was paid to maintaining accurate diaphragm control during rapid changes in level.

The specified frequency response extends from 20 Hz to 40 kHz.

Eight Driver Revisions and 15 Acoustic Adjustments

The product name NATURE refers directly to the intended tuning. SNOWSKY says the headphones are not designed around strongly accentuated bass or sharpened treble intended to create an immediate effect. The stated goal is a more balanced presentation that remains comfortable during longer listening sessions.

FiiO reports that the driver parameters went through eight rounds of development. The acoustic chamber was adjusted in 15 stages, while feedback from almost 1,000 listeners was considered before the tuning was finalised.

The manufacturer describes the resulting character as natural, clean and resistant to listening fatigue. These claims cannot be confirmed from the development figures or technical specifications alone; they will ultimately have to be judged in a listening test.

Closed-back Construction for Greater Isolation

Unlike an open headphone, the FiiO SNOWSKY NATURE uses sealed ear cups. This construction is intended to reduce the influence of external noise while limiting the amount of sound escaping into the surroundings.

The closed design complements the low impedance and high sensitivity. Users are not restricted to a stationary headphone system and can operate the model from compatible mobile equipment without abandoning the isolation advantages of sealed ear cups.

The Most Important Advantages at a Glance

  • Easy to drive: An impedance of 24 Ohm and high sensitivity permit operation from smartphones, portable Audio Players and compact USB DACs.
  • Natural tuning objective: The sound balance is intended to avoid excessively prominent bass or treble.
  • Closed-back construction: The sealed ear cups reduce external noise and limit sound leakage.
  • Detachable dual-entry cable: Separate 3.5 mm sockets on both ear cups simplify cable replacement.
  • Optional balanced operation: A suitably wired cable allows the left and right channels to be connected separately.
  • Integrated headset functions: The supplied cable includes a microphone and controls for calls, video conferences, gaming and media playback.
  • Low weight: At 280 g without cable, the headphones remain comparatively light for a closed full-size design.
  • Replaceable ear pads: The twist-lock mechanism allows the synthetic leather pads to be removed without tools.

Price and Availability

The FiiO SNOWSKY NATURE has been available since mid-July 2026. The closed-back over-ear headphones are offered in Black and Apricot at an international selling price of US$ 44,40.

Getting to the Point

The FiiO SNOWSKY NATURE concentrates on four qualities that matter in an affordable wired headphone: a full-size dynamic driver, easy operation from portable sources, manageable weight and components that can be replaced when necessary.

Separate 3,5 mm sockets on the ear cups are a sensible choice. They simplify cable replacement and provide the basis for an optional balanced connection. The twist-lock ear pads follow the same practical approach.

The decisive question concerns the tuning. Eight revisions of the driver parameters, 15 adjustments to the acoustic chamber and feedback from almost 1,000 listeners describe an extensive development process, but not the audible result. If the promised natural balance and wearing comfort stand up to a proper test, the FiiO SNOWSKY NATURE could prove a compelling entry point into conventional wired full-size headphones.
