Hardly a month goes by in which the French software company Audirvana SAS does not come up with an update of its Audirvana Studio software. Now the software has already reached Audirvana Studio 1.10.0, which in turn was followed by two service releases, Audirvana Studio 1.10.1 and Audirvana Studio 1.10.2.
Audirvana Studio 1.10.0, that’s how we wanted to title this news item, to refer to the latest version of the software from Audirvana SAS. However, as soon as this version was available, two new updates followed as service releases, so that the version number went up again.
Audirvana Studio 1.10.0 was immediately followed by Audirvana Studio 1.10.1, which in turn was immediately followed by Audirvana Studio 1.10.2, which is now the latest version of the media management and hi-res audio player software from Audirvana SAS.
Easy switching from computer to computer
Audirvana Studio is known to be distributed as a subscription, whereby the user can always use the software on one computer. This is authorised by entering the email address and a password. It is irrelevant whether the computer is running Apple macOS or Microsoft Windows.
With the new version Audirvana Studio 1.10.0, the developers have made it easier to switch from one computer to another.
To make it easier to switch from one computer to another, when logging on to a new computer, the previous computer is automatically disconnected. According to the developers, this new default behaviour can be deactivated on the account management page my.audirvana.com, if one wishes to do so.
Various detail improvements
Basically, that’s it for the new features, at least those that can be highlighted as particularly important.
Audirvana Studio 1.10.0 also offers some improvements in detail, such as the option to use the macOS v3 API in the Audio Units, as well as some enhancements to the playlist management and bug fixes such as in the Playlist Tracks View and the Metadata Editor.
Once again, the question arises as to whether this update really justifies the jump in version, especially since Audirvana Studio 1.10.1 and Audirvana Studio 1.10.2 were the two updates that had to be submitted in order to correct further minor errors, thus causing the version number to jump up again.
Prices and availability
Audirvana Studio is available for both Apple macOS and Microsoft Windows. For existing customers, the update is free of charge. After all, the French software company relies on a subscription, which can be paid annually or monthly, but is always for one year. With monthly payment, € 6.98 per month is due, with annual payment € 69,98.
The associated apps, the Audirvana Remote Mobile App 3.2 is available for Apple macOS as well as Google Android.
Getting to the point
Unfortunately, we have to note once again that the French software company Audirvana SAS does a good job of developing its Audirvana Studio solution, but with regard to the subscription model, it is probably pushing up the version number too quickly. Only in order to be able to offer the user a “new major update” almost every month, they try to market even actually insignificant improvements in detail as a major new feature with a striking leap in the nomenclature. There are currently three new versions, which ultimately bring no more than one really striking innovation. We dare to say that this will not go down well with users in the long run…
