Marantz MCR 60n DAB – All-in-One HiFi System for CD, Streaming, TV and Vinyl Alternative Short SEO Title

Marantz has designed the MCR 60n DAB as a compact HiFi centre rather than a closed one-box solution. It can drive loudspeakers in stereo, Bi-Amping or Parallel BTL configurations, feed a second pair with separate volume control, or serve as a streaming preamplifier. CD, DAB+, HDMI eARC, MM phono, HEOS, Roon Ready and the Connect platforms from Spotify, TIDAL and Qobuz cover an unusually broad range of sources.

Story Highlights
  • The Marantz MCR 60n DAB combines a CD player, DAB+/FM radio, HEOS streaming, HDMI eARC, MM phono and flexible amplification in a compact 280 mm-wide enclosure. Its four amplifier channels support several loudspeaker configurations, while variable audio and configurable subwoofer outputs leave scope for a system to evolve. Optional Dirac Live Room Correction, Roon Ready support and direct access via Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect and Qobuz Connect take it well beyond the familiar compact stereo formula.

The interesting thing about the Marantz MCR 60n DAB is not simply how many sources Marantz has fitted into a small enclosure. Its real distinction lies in what can happen after the first pair of loudspeakers has been connected. The four amplifier channels can be arranged for conventional stereo, two separately controlled loudspeaker pairs, Bi-Amping or Parallel BTL; active loudspeakers and external power amplifiers can be served through the variable audio output, and an active subwoofer has its own configurable connection. Add optional Dirac Live Room Correction and this becomes a compact component around which several very different systems can be built. At the same time, it retains the immediacy expected of an All-in-One design: insert a CD, select a radio station, hand over a stream from a familiar app or switch on the television.

Four Channels Change the Proposition

Many compact systems are easy to understand because their architecture is fixed: connect one pair of passive loudspeakers and the job is done. The Marantz MCR 60n DAB leaves considerably more room for choice. In normal stereo operation, it delivers 2 × 65 Watts into 4 Ohms. Alternatively, its four internal amplifier channels provide 4 × 33 Watts into 4 Ohms.

This makes several arrangements possible. Loudspeaker A/B operation can supply two pairs, with independent volume adjustment allowing the second pair to serve another listening area. The same channels can instead be assigned to Bi-Amping or configured in Parallel BTL mode. The MCR 60n DAB is therefore not tied to a single loudspeaker arrangement, even though the compact format might initially suggest otherwise.

Marantz has also developed a new power supply for the system. According to the company, its greater current-delivery capability is intended to provide more generous power reserves, firmer control in the bass and more assured operation with a range of loudspeakers. As with other Marantz components, the final sonic tuning was handled by the Marantz Soundmaster.

The options do not end at the loudspeaker terminals. A variable analogue audio output allows the MCR 60n DAB to work as a streaming preamplifier with active loudspeakers, an external power amplifier or an existing HiFi system. A configurable subwoofer output with an adjustable crossover frequency provides a straightforward route to adding an active subwoofer.

A Compact System That Can Account for the Room

Dirac Live Room Correction is an unusually ambitious option in this product class. It is not included as standard, but can be added as an upgrade for stereo playback. This enables the response of the system to be adjusted with reference to both the connected loudspeakers and the acoustic characteristics of the listening room.

That upgrade is particularly relevant because the MCR 60n DAB is likely to be used in spaces where dedicated acoustic treatment is neither practical nor desirable. Its compact dimensions suit living rooms, studies and smaller listening areas; Dirac Live Room Correction adds a means of dealing with the room rather than treating the system as acoustically self-contained.

Physical Media, Radio and Television Still Belong Here

Streaming may carry much of the daily workload, but Marantz has not used it as an excuse to discard established sources. The front-loading CD mechanism accepts Audio CD and CD-R/RW, including discs containing MP3 and WMA files. DAB, DAB+ and FM with RDS cover terrestrial radio, while TuneIn supplies Internet Radio.

The analogue section includes a line input and an integrated MM phono stage for turntables equipped with a moving-magnet cartridge. A rear USB-A port and an optical S/PDIF input extend the choice of digital sources. This breadth matters because it allows a collection of records and CDs to remain part of the same system as network audio, without calling for separate source components.

Television sound is handled through HDMI eARC or HDMI ARC. HDMI-CEC permits compatible televisions to control the volume, and the system decodes Dolby Digital as well as Dolby Digital Plus. In practical terms, the MCR 60n DAB can take on the role often assigned to a soundbar while retaining proper stereo loudspeakers and the wider source access of a HiFi system.

Streaming Without Giving One App All the Power

HEOS forms the basis of network streaming and Multiroom Audio, providing access to the services available within the platform. Marantz also supports three important alternatives to browsing through a single system app: Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect and Qobuz Connect. Music can consequently be selected in the native app of the chosen service and transferred directly to the MCR 60n DAB.

Apple AirPlay 2 provides another familiar route from compatible devices, while Roon Ready support places the system within a Roon installation. Network access is available through either WiFi or Ethernet. Four Smart Select presets on the remote control can store combinations of source, playback mode and volume, reducing a multi-source system to a direct button press for recurring listening situations.

Over the network and from the rear USB-A port, the Marantz MCR 60n DAB handles PCM at up to 32 Bit 384 kHz and DSD at up to 11.2 MHz. Supported formats include MP3, WMA, AAC, WAV, FLAC, ALAC and DSD. Gapless Playback is available with FLAC, WAV and DSD.

Bluetooth Works Both Ways

Bluetooth reception covers the familiar task of playing audio wirelessly from smartphones, tablets and other compatible source devices. The MCR 60n DAB can also transmit through Bluetooth, which is the more consequential part of the implementation.

Audio from sources connected to the system can therefore be sent to compatible Bluetooth headphones. That includes a CD playing in the internal drive as well as television sound arriving through HDMI eARC. For wired headphones, the front panel carries a headphone output with its own volume control.

Compact Dimensions, Clearer Installation

At 280 × 303 × 111 mm, the MCR 60n DAB occupies substantially less space than a conventional stack of HiFi components. It weighs 4.2 kg and uses a three-line OLED display for source and playback information. The front illumination can be switched off when a more discreet appearance is preferred.

Marantz has reorganised the rear panel by function, a change intended to make installation easier despite the number of available connections. The system comes in Black or Marantz Champagne Gold. Packaging also uses less plastic, with Marantz placing greater emphasis on recyclable paper-based protective materials.

Price & Availability

The Marantz MCR 60n DAB is scheduled to become available from 15 September 2026 through authorised Marantz retailers and directly from Marantz. It is priced at € 900,- and offered in Black or Marantz Champagne Gold.

Getting to the Point

The Marantz MCR 60n DAB respects the sources people already own without treating them as a reason to hold back its streaming capabilities. CD, DAB+, MM phono and conventional inputs sit alongside HEOS, Roon Ready, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect and Qobuz Connect, while HDMI eARC makes television part of the same stereo system.

What gives the concept real substance, however, is the freedom surrounding those sources. Four configurable amplifier channels, a variable audio output, a dedicated subwoofer connection and the option of Dirac Live Room Correction allow this compact unit to grow in several directions. That makes the Marantz MCR 60n DAB a credible HiFi centre for far more than the simplest desktop or second-room installation.
