Yamaha AVENTAGE Series – Update for higher frame rates and HDR10+

The current generation of network AV receivers in the Yamaha AVENTAGE Series has now been given a very important update by Yamaha Music Europe GmbH. With the help of new firmware, the solutions, which function as versatile control centres in home cinema, will be equipped for the reproduction of higher frame rates and HDR10+. Specifically, this means that users of a Yamaha AVENTAGE RX-A4A, Yamaha AVENTAGE RX-A6A and Yamaha AVENTAGE RX-A8A will now be able to play back content with 8K resolution at 60 Hz refresh rate or 4K and 120 Hz, in addition to the aforementioned HDR10+.

Higher refresh rate, HDR10+ and other new features

The latest update to firmware version 1.65 enables the Yamaha AVENTAGE RX-A4A, Yamaha AVENTAGE RX-A6A and Yamaha AVENTAGE RX-A8A to now display 8K 60 Hz and 4K 120 Hz. HDR10+ is now also supported for high dynamic range movies and series, meaning that users of these network A/V receivers are well equipped for both currently established and not yet widely used standards in home cinema.

According to the manufacturer, in order to be able to optimally use the new functions after the update, the higher frequency or resolution must be selected and confirmed under the menu item Video/HDMI.

But this alone is not what the new firmware update brings. Yamaha Music Europe GmbH also says that with this update they have improved the playback of Internet radio stations and expanded the functions of the Yamaha MusicCast Controller App, which now also provides a Seek function for fast forward and backward jumping in podcasts or music tracks on streaming services such as Qobuz, TIDAL, Amazon Music HD and Deezer.

The Yamaha AVENTAGE RX-A4A, Yamaha AVENTAGE RX-A6A and Yamaha AVENTAGE RX-A8A systems combine the possibilities of a comprehensive multimedia interface with hi-fi elements, making music and film an absolute pleasure.

The 64-bit Qualcomm QCS407 Smart Audio Platform on which the network AV receivers are based implements the Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and, as of this year, Auro 3D formats with the highest level of detail, according to the manufacturer’s promise. For perfect tuning, optimal surround sound and further fine-tuning, the manufacturer’s own technology Yamaha Surround:AI is integrated together with the innovative Yamaha YPAO 3D calibration, guaranteeing reference-class entertainment, even in acoustically demanding rooms.
