Denon AVS-3 and Marantz VS3003 – 8K-HDMI-Switch

In order to be able to connect up to three 8K and 4K/120 Hz source devices to selected AV receivers of the brands Denon or Marantz, Sound United LLC. now simultaneously presents a corresponding 8K HDMI switch of these brands. Denon calls this Denon AVS-3, Marantz VS3003.

At the same time, Sound United LLC. now presents the Denon AVS-3 and Marantz VS3003, and not without reason, since it is the identical product despite the different names. Namely, a so-called 8K HDMI switch, which has three inputs and one output and is thus suitable for connecting three source devices with 8K as well as 4K/120 Hz to AV receivers.

The company wants to offer users of selected Denon and Marantz AV receivers more flexibility in the design of their home cinema.

Denon AVS-3 and Marantz VS3003 – compact design

According to the manufacturer, both solutions should be distinguished by their very compact design. It is said that the Denon AVS-3 and Marantz VS3003 solutions are no larger than a Blu-ray player and can therefore be placed almost anywhere.

The respective switch also has a front panel made of brushed aluminum and a small infrared remote control for changing the individual inputs. In addition, the switch is compatible with HDMI CEC. This allows it to automatically turn on and off and switch inputs once HDMI-CEC is enabled on all connected HDMI devices.

This includes, for example, the switch itself, AV receivers, TVs, and other connected 8K source devices. In addition to operation via an infrared remote or HDMI-CEC, both models can also be controlled via the AV receiver’s remote, although this function must be configured via the AV receiver’s corresponding menus, as you can read in the fine print.

Placed in AV furniture or with wall mounting

Even though the manufacturer talks about the new Denon AVS-3 and Marantz VS3003 being easy to place in AV furniture due to their compact dimensions, it is still practical that wall mounting is also possible. A removable wall mount is available for this purpose. Also essential in this context is that an IR repeater is also available, so that the reception of the control signals is also guaranteed when the switch is out of the field of view of the remote control.

Sound United LLC. lists a number of Denon and Marantz AV receivers and AV preamps with which the new Denon AVS-3 and Marantz VS3003 solutions are compatible.

The new HDMI switch should be available from October 2021 as announced by the manufacturer. The suggested retail price is of course the same for both products it is € 199,-.

Getting to the point

Denon and Marantz can now each boast a new 3-in/ 1-out 8K HDMI switch, in the form of the Denon AVS-3 and Marantz VS3003 solutions. Owners of compatible Denon or Marantz 8K AV products can thus easily connect up to three 8K and 4K/120 Hz source devices to their entertainment system.
