A truly unique system
One thing is clear: many loudspeaker systems from Wilson Audio Specialties Inc. present themselves at first glance as extraordinary solutions that pursue completely independent concepts. This clearly also applies to the new Wilson Audio Mezzo CSC, which stands out visually from the rest of the centre speaker range on the market.
This is due to the fact that the developers have arranged the drivers in such a way that the individual drivers always interact optimally, guaranteeing perfect timing.
The system therefore consists of a main module and an additional tweeter module, which is positioned above the main module and can be adjusted.
Another special feature of the new Wilson Audio Mezzo CSC is that this centre speaker is so massive that it can not only be placed on a lowboard using height-adjustable spikes, but also directly on the floor using a so-called Hourglass Stand.
To give you an idea of the dimensions we are talking about here, the new Wilson Audio Mezzo CSC weighs in at 90.72 kg with a width of 78.4 cm, a height of 45.7 cm and a depth of 56.47 cm.
The materials used for the cabinet are the so-called X material, while the front is made of the so-called S material from Wilson Audio Specialties Inc.
Particularly sophisticated construction
The so-called main module of the new Wilson Audio Mezzo CSC is equipped with a 7-inch paper pulp composite midrange driver and two 8-inch paper pulp woofers, with the bass chassis flanking the midrange driver. However, while the midrange driver uses a closed housing, the woofers are supported by a bass reflex system that is centrally routed below the midrange driver at the front.
The tweeter has its own separate housing that can be moved in position and sits centrally above the main module. A 1 inch doped silk fabric tweeter is used here, as the data sheet reveals.
In total, the new Wilson Audio Mezzo CSC should be able to reproduce a frequency range between 19 Hz and 32 kHz, the efficiency is reported to be 89 dB and the nominal impedance to be 4 ohms.
