- The new Moon 250i V2 Integrated Amplifier is a revised version of the highly successful Moon 250i stereo integrated amplifier, according to Canadian company Simaudio Ltd.
It is the second generation of an extremely successful solution from the Canadian high-end hi-fi company Simaudio Ltd. that they are now presenting at the Moon by Simaudio brand in the form of the new Moon 250i V2 Integrated Amplifier. As the name suggests, this is the latest version of the Moon 250i Integrated Amplifier, which was so successful not least because it allowed entry into the world of the Moon by Simaudio brand at an attractive price.
This is exactly the task that the new Moon 250i V2 Integrated Amplifier has been given, and according to Simaudio Ltd. it is even better equipped for this task than its predecessor. An improved circuit design, an optimised power supply and last but not least an integrated phono preamplifier speak for the new Moon 250i V2 Integrated Amplifier.
Moon 250i V2 Integrated Amplifier – Following in the footsteps of its predecessor
The new Moon 250i V2 Integrated Amplifier has a classic analogue design that offers the well-known high quality of the Moon by Simaudio brand at a particularly attractive price, according to the manufacturer’s promise.
In more pathetic terms, the Canadians say that the Moon 250i V2 Integrated Amplifier offers both gentle musical authority and a timeless design, opening the door to a journey through the entire range of Moon by Simaudio products for the user.
Essential Updates and Welcome Upgrades
As already mentioned in the introduction, Simaudio Ltd. remains true to the previous concept with the new Moon 250i V2 Integrated Amplifier, so it is not obvious at first glance that this is the second generation of the stereo integrated amplifier.
In fact, however, an improved circuit design is used, a very profound innovation on the occasion of the generation change, especially since the power supply has also been optimised, specifically with regard to the shielding.
These measures result in the new Moon 250i V2 Integrated Amplifier offering an even better sound performance compared to its predecessor, which was already performing at its best, as the manufacturer explicitly promises.
Integrated Phono Preamplifier
As a further innovation, the Moon 250i V2 Integrated Amplifier now has an integrated phono preamplifier, so that record lovers can now connect their turntable directly to the stereo integrated amplifier and do not have to make any further investments.
However, the restriction applies that this is a phono preamplifier designed for MM cartridge systems; this should be mentioned as an important note at this point.
Flexible design even for extensive hi-fi chains
Even though this is the first solution of the Moon by Simaudio brand, the developers of Simaudio Ltd. have taken care to realise a particularly flexible solution that can even be used for quite extensive hi-fi chains.
Besides the aforementioned new phono preamplifier, there are four analogue inputs in the form of pairs of cinch sockets, and a corresponding pre-out is not missing either. Directly at the front, there is also a 3.5 mm stereo mini-jack as a further analogue input. The Moon 250i V2 Integrated Amplifier also has an integrated headphone amplifier, whereby a 6.3 mm jack is available for connecting headphones.
Proven amplifier concept with Class A up to 5 watts
Even though the circuit design has been optimised, the new Moon 250i V2 Integrated Amplifier still relies on a proven amplifier concept in Class A/B, whereby Class A alone is used up to 5 watts and thus a particularly appealing sound can be realised.
The Moon 250i V2 Integrated Amplifier features precisely tuned, proprietary MOON bipolar output transistors for improved bass response and overall particularly accurate sound reproduction, as the manufacturer points out. In addition, attention has been paid to a low operating temperature for an extremely long service life.
The Moon 250i V2 Integrated Amplifier is capable of delivering two times 50 watts of power to speaker systems with an impedance of 8 ohms; if the speakers have an impedance of only 4 ohms, 100 watts are available per channel.
Solid, timelessly elegant cabinet
As already mentioned, the new Moon 250i V2 Integrated Amplifier is presented in the solid, timelessly elegant cabinet already known from its predecessor. It should be mentioned here that the construction is particularly torsion-resistant and equipped against resonances and vibrations that can damage the sound.
The cabinet measures 42.9 x 8.9 x 36.6 cm and is available in silver or black, weighing in at a hefty 10 kg.
Prices and availability
The new Moon 250i V2 Integrated Amplifier should be available in specialist shops within the next few days. The manufacturer lists a recommended retail price of € 2.600,-.
Getting to the point
The great success that the Canadian high-end hi-fi company Simaudio Ltd. celebrated with the stereo integrated amplifier Moon 250i Integrated Amplifier is now to be continued with the new Moon 250i V2 Integrated Amplifier. The second generation, like the previously available model, is intended to provide an entry into the special sound world of the Canadians at a particularly attractive price, whereby the developers have taken a close look at the circuit design as well as the power supply. Apart from these optimisations, the new Moon 250i V2 Integrated Amplifier also has an integrated phono preamplifier, which will probably increase the attractiveness of the stereo integrated amplifier in the second generation.
