Yamaha MusicCast 200 – Music diversity in the elegant, compact form of a desktop audio system
The new Yamaha MusicCast 200 presents itself as an elegant, compact all-in-one system, which, according to Yamaha Music Europe GmbH, should be able to come up with a variety of possibilities and practical functions for everyday use.
- As the latest family member of the Yamaha MusicCast Series, Yamaha Music Europe GmbH now presents the new all-in-one system Yamaha MusicCast 200.
The best stereo sound despite being a compact all-in-one system that fits almost anywhere in the home, allows users to access a wide range of sources, and is extremely easy, even intuitive, to operate – all this is promised by Yamaha Music Europe GmbH for the new Yamaha MusicCast 200, the latest solution based on the versatile streaming technology from the Japanese consumer electronics company Yamaha MusicCast.
First and foremost, this makes many of the features just mentioned possible, but in addition, the new Yamaha MusicCast 200 should also have many practical functions ready for everyday use, as Yamaha Music Europe GmbH promises.
Yamaha MusicCast 200 – A versatile desktop audio system
As a true desktop audio system, it takes nothing more than the new Yamaha MusicCast 200 to consume FM or DAB+ radio or Internet radio, play an audio CD and access countless streaming services. Of course, it is also possible to use mobile devices such as a smartphone as a source via Bluetooth.
The Yamaha MusicCast 200 is designed to fit perfectly in the kitchen, bathroom, study or bedroom.
It measures no more than 370 mm in width, 260 mm in depth and 111 mm in height, and weighs 4.4 kg.
Two-way bass reflex system with coaxial speaker arrangement
At the front, the user is first presented with the speaker covers, whereby a two-way system is relied upon in which the two speaker chassis are installed in a coaxial arrangement. In the centre of the 8 cm woofers are the 2.5 cm tweeter, which, in conjunction with a Class D amplifier module, delivers a rich sound that the manufacturer calls Yamaha True Sound. A rear-firing bass reflex system supports this in the lowest frequency range.
By the way, an integrated tone control allows you to adjust the performance according to your own preferences.
In the centre of the unit is a display that shows all relevant information. In standby mode, the time as well as the date is displayed here, which is mentioned for the sake of completeness, after all, this is a very nice function that many users will appreciate.
CD, FM, DAB+, Bluetooth, USB and AUX
As already mentioned, the new Yamaha MusicCast 200 serves, among other things, as an audio CD player, whereby the drive is designed as a slot-in drive directly under the display just mentioned. Radio is available via FM and DAB, and integration into the network is also possible, so that Internet radio is also offered.
Once in the network, Yamaha MusicCast comes into play, because with this versatile streaming platform you can access your own content in the network as well as various services, be it Spotify, TIDAL, Amazon Music, Napster, Qobuz, Pandora and many more.
Yamaha MusicCast for flexible streaming
The real special feature of Yamaha MusicCast, however, is that it can also be used in combination with many other devices in the home. Yamaha Music Europe GmbH offers a wide range of solutions for many different types of devices. The spectrum ranges from wireless speakers and soundbar systems to hi-fi systems and AV receivers. Even a record player is available with the Yamaha MusicCast Vinyl 500, which relies on this streaming platform.
The Yamaha MusicCast App, which is available for Apple iOS and Google Android, is very convenient and intuitive to use.
If you want to use the Yamaha MusicCast 200 outside of Yamaha MusicCast, this platform also supports Apple AirPlay 2.
As already mentioned, Bluetooth is also available, even if it is unfortunately only Bluetooth 4.2, which supports the audio codecs SBC and AAC. Furthermore, a USB port is available here to use corresponding storage media as a source and an analogue input in the form of a 3.5 mm stereo mini-jack is not missing either. There is also a 3.5 mm stereo mini-jack for connecting headphones.
Practical functions for everyday use
Of course, with a solution like the Yamaha MusicCast 200, you don’t want to be dependent on the app alone, so the system comes with a remote control and there is also a touch control panel directly on the device for convenient control.
It should also be mentioned that a Qi-compatible charging surface has been integrated into the top of the Yamaha MusicCast 200, so that corresponding solutions can be placed directly here and charged via Qi wireless charging.
