Yamaha AV receivers and stereo receivers now Roon Tested

Over the last few years, one software has established itself as a new kind of standard in the field of multi-room Hi-res audio streaming, namely the solution from the software company Roon Labs LLC., known simply as Roon. Probably the most decisive factors for the success of this solution include its particularly simple, almost intuitive handling, the unique way in which content is displayed and managed and, last but not least, the fact that Roon Labs LLC. works together with partners in the industry, thus guaranteeing smooth operation on as many systems as possible.

Roon Labs LLC. introduced its own partner programme in which manufacturers can have their solutions certified as Roon Ready or Roon Tested. The Japanese consumer electronics group Yamaha Corporation has now also done this, so that Yamaha Music Europe GmbH can now announce that a large number of Yamaha brand systems are Roon Tested, both in the AV receiver and stereo receiver sectors.

AV receivers and stereo receivers from Yamaha now Roon Tested

It is primarily all current Yamaha brand AV receivers that are now Roon Tested, as the list includes the Yamaha RX-A8A, Yamaha RX-A6A, Yamaha RX-A4A, Yamaha RX-A2A, Yamaha RX-V6A, Yamaha RX-V4A, Yamaha TSR-700 and Yamaha TSR-400.

In the stereo receiver sector, it is the Yamaha R-N2000A, Yamaha R-N1000A, Yamaha R-N800A and Yamaha R-N600A systems that are now labelled as Roon Tested, so this is essentially the complete current line-up from the Japanese company in the stereo sector too.

Roon Tested but not Roon Ready

Finally, it should be mentioned that Roon Tested means that when the systems are directly connected to a PC or Mac, their D/A converter is directly supported with all its performance data, so this should not be confused with Roon Ready, where the streaming functionality is available directly in Roon via the network.

In the case of network AV receivers and network-capable stereo receivers from the Yamaha brand, however, this is not too much of a disadvantage, as these mostly rely on streaming via the Yamaha MusicCast technology platform, which also supports Apple AirPlay 2, among other things.

Apple AirPlay, in turn, is directly supported by Roon, meaning that all Yamaha-branded streaming solutions can already be used with the software from Roon Labs LLC. without any problems.

Getting to the point

Admittedly, it’s not really a major sensation that Yamaha Music Europe GmbH can now announce that a large number of AV receivers and stereo receivers are now Roon Tested, especially as most systems could already be used as streaming clients in Roon via the Yamaha MusicCast streaming platform using the Apple AirPlay “diversions”.
