Pro-Ject Power Box DS3 Sources - Linear power supply for up to 6 devices

Pro-Ject Audio Systems describes the new Pro-Ject Power Box DS3 Sources as an all-in-one power supply as an ideal upgrade, which is now presented as a universal solution for the Pro-Ject Box Design Series, specifically the Pro-Ject Box Design DS3 Series. Apart from the fact that such a solution saves many individual power supplies, the new Pro-Ject Power Box DS3 Sources is supposed to offer a high-purity, switching power supply-free voltage supply for systems with 9 V, 15 V and 18 V. In addition to five different types of source devices, a record player from Pro-Ject Audio Systems can also be supplied with power.

As is well known, Pro-Ject Audio Systems offers a wide range of solutions with the Pro-Ject Box Design Series, from phono preamplifiers to D/A converters, streaming clients to headphone amplifiers and pre- and power amplifiers or stereo integrated amplifiers.

Even if you can flexibly set up an individual hi-fi system, the many power supplies that go along with it are impractical. This is exactly what you can avoid with solutions such as the new Pro-Ject Power Box DS3 Source, whereby – note the name – only source devices can be used, stereo integrated amplifiers and power amplifiers are left out.

Sophisticated power supply for 9 V, 15 V and 18 V

As already described, the new Pro-Ject Power Box DS3 Source provides 9 V, 15 V and 18 V direct current, namely twice 9 V for various source devices, once 15 V for all Pro-Ject Audio Systems record players operated with 15 V DC, as well as three times 18 V also for various source devices.

The basis of the power supply is a toroidal transformer as well as a main isolating transformer with copper foil shielding, a voltage rectifier with precise regulation, a high filter capacity with 10,000 μF, capacitors with low ESR as well as generally low-noise components and overvoltage protection. Special mention must also be made of a soft-start function that protects against any current peaks when switching on.

Of course, the Pro-Ject Power Box DS3 Source is packaged in a robust aluminium housing that effectively protects against interference and looks elegant in both silver and black, especially since magnetically attached wooden side panels are available as an option, which further emphasise the high-quality impression.

Cables included in delivery

Finally, it should be mentioned that the Pro-Ject Power Box DS3 Source is delivered with matching cables, i.e. including connection cables for two 9 V and thus 1.3 mm hollow plugs, three 18 V and thus 2.5 mm hollow plugs, and also a cable for connection with 15 V and 2.1 mm hollow plugs. As an option, Pro-Ject Audio Systems also offers Pro-Ject Connect it Power Cables, which feature particularly sophisticated shielding for the best possible transmission.

The new Pro-Ject Power Box DS3 Source should be available in specialist shops within the next few days. As described, it is available in black and silver and costs € 699,- according to the manufacturer.
