EC Living Rena S2 and EC Living Rena SA2 – New from the EC Living Series by Electrocompaniet Series
EC Living Rena S2 and EC Living Rena SA2, the second product category of the EC Living by Electrocompaniet series is now also available in the latest, now already second generation, in the form of a streamer and a streamer with integrated amplifier.
- Electrocompaniet A/S is now supplying the latest solutions in the so-called EC Living Series, the EC Living Rena S2 and EC Living Rena SA2 systems, to the specialised trade.
EC Living Rena S2 Wireless Streamer and EC Living Rena SA2 Streamer & Stereo Amplifier are the latest solutions in the EC Living Series by Electrocompaniet. The Norwegian High-end HiFi manufacturer Electrocompaniet A/S is thus launching the latest generation of its systems, which should once again prove to be a prime example that High-end HiFi and modern lifestyle solutions are not mutually exclusive, but – if done right – can be combined to form an elegant, flexible and high-quality unit.
Incidentally, the two new systems were first shown at High end 2022 in Munich, so it’s definitely been a “few days”. The reason why the systems are only now actually coming onto the market is primarily due to the internal reorganisation that accompanied the change of ownership at Electrocompaniet A/S some time ago. The initial focus was on the Electrocompaniet Classic Series. Now, however, the company also wants to make a fresh start in the EC Living Series.
The EC Living Series by Electrocompaniet – High-end HiFi in the most compact, flexible form
From the very beginning, the EC Living Series by Electrocompaniet has been characterised by the fact that it is essentially a product line designed to enable music streaming throughout the home in a particularly simple way, i.e. with almost intuitive operation, based on very compact, very elegant solutions that offer the highest sound quality and are therefore fully worthy of a High-end HiFi manufacturer.
Ultimately, the High-end segment is realising exactly what has been offered by numerous manufacturers in the consumer sector for years, namely the simplest possible access to music from a wide variety of sources, in the form of a system that requires no installation effort and can be used anywhere thanks to its compact dimensions.
EC Living Rena S2 Wireless Streamer and EC Living Rena SA2 Streamer & Stereo Amplifier
As the names suggest, these two systems provide a compact streaming client and an equally compact streaming client in combination with a stereo integrated amplifier.
So while the EC Living Rena S2 Wireless Streamer serves to expand an existing audio system, the EC Living Rena SA2 Streamer & Stereo Amplifier can be used to realise a complete compact HiFi system, all that is missing are a few suitable speakers.
EC Living Rena SA2 Streamer & Stereo Amplifier
The EC Living Rena SA2 is, as described, the second generation of the flexible streaming solution from Eletrocompaniet A/S, and it combines a D/A converter, a streamer and an amplifier in one.
As always, this solution is based on the specially developed EC software engine and therefore offers remarkable versatility when it comes to supporting a wide variety of sources.
With the help of the EC Living Rena SA2, the user can access TIDAL via TIDAL Connect and including TIDAL Max, Spotify is available via Spotify Connect and the provider Qobuz is also directly supported.
For streaming your own content, the new EC Living Rena SA2 offers UPnP as a dlna-certified solution, but Apple Airplay 2 is also available. It should also be emphasised that this solution is Roon Ready and can therefore be used directly with the media management and multi-room audio streaming software from Roon Labs LLC. for bit-perfect Hi-res audio streaming.
It should also be mentioned that the solution is now also labelled as Plāys with Audirvāna.
If you want to connect smartphones and tablets directly to the system, you can do so easily via Bluetooth.
The new EC Living Rena SA2 also has a Summit Wireless WiSA chip, which enables connection to WiSA-compatible wireless speakers, including the EC Living Tana L2 and the EC Living Sira L1 subwoofer.
In addition, it naturally has an integrated amplifier with an output of two times 75 watts, new speaker connections, a new touch button system and an updated DSP.
Three digital inputs in the form of a coaxial and two optical S/PDIF interfaces are available for connecting additional source devices. There is also an output, which combines analogue and digital signals.
The updated software and app now also support remote control so that the device can also be controlled without the free app, as Electrocompaniet A/S states.
EC Living Rena S2 Wireless Streamer
The new EC Living Rena S2 Wireless Streamer essentially offers all the functions and options just mentioned, but without the integrated amplifier. As mentioned in the introduction, this solution is therefore primarily designed as an extension for existing audio systems, and is particularly suitable for use in combination with active loudspeaker systems.
Developed and produced entirely in Norway
Electrocompaniet A/S also emphasises that the new solutions in the EC Living Series by Electrocompaniet, like all of the company’s other products, are developed entirely in Norway and, above all, produced in the company’s own production facilities.
Prices and availability
As described, the new EC Living Rena S2 Wireless Streamer and EC Living Rena SA2 Streamer & Stereo Amplifier solutions will be available from specialist retailers from now on. The manufacturer’s recommended retail price is € 999,- for the EC Living Rena S2 Wireless Streamer and € 1.249,- for the EC Living Rena SA2 Streamer & Stereo Amplifier.
Getting to the point
“If music really matters” is the motto of the Norwegian company Electrocompaniet A/S, and this should also apply to the product line that the company clearly advertises as a lifestyle series, namely the EC Living Series by Electrocompaniet. Although this product line is in no way inferior to streaming solutions in the consumer segment in terms of form factor, functionality and, of course, flexibility, it offers all this at a level of quality that does honour to a High-end HiFi manufacturer. Of course, this also applies to the latest products in the EC Living Series by Electrocompaniet, the EC Living Rena S2 Wireless Streamer and EC Living Rena SA2 Streamer & Stereo Amplifier systems, which are now available a “little” later than planned.
