KEF Ci5160RLM-THX and KEF Ci3160RLM-THX – New models of the KEF Extreme Home Theatre Series with THX Certified Ultra
The latest built-in loudspeaker systems from KEF, the KEF Ci5160RLM-THX and KEF Ci3160RLM-THX solutions, feature the latest technologies from the KEF Reference Series. KEF Uni-Q drivers of the 12th generation with KEF MAT are therefore at the centre of these THX Certified Ultra systems.

Built-in loudspeaker systems are playing an increasingly important role, including at the British specialist KEF, which is now once again expanding its KEF Extreme Home Theatre Series with two new solutions in the form of the KEF Ci5160RLM-THX and KEF Ci3160RLM-THX speakers. The name of the product line alone reveals that the aim here is to fulfil particularly high demands.
With the two new models KEF Ci5160RLM-THX and KEF Ci3160RLM-THX, this is to be achieved above all by KEF Uni-Q chassis of the 12th generation with KEF MAT, and the certification by THX Ltd. as THX Certified Ultra serves in particular as proof of the quality achieved.
KEF Extreme Home Theatre Series
The solutions in the KEF Extreme Home Theatre Series are designed to offer home cinema at the highest level, but there is another very important criterion, namely the most discreet possible integration into the living environment.
With the solutions of the KEF Extreme Home Theatre Series, a completely new level of entertainment is now also being created in the custom installation segment, where film lovers, but of course also music enthusiasts, are surrounded by lifelike sound and can enjoy a deeper, more exciting sound experience – this was KEF’s promise when the first solutions of this product line were presented, and this of course also applies to the two latest systems KEF Ci5160RLM-THX and KEF Ci3160RLM-THX.
Two new in-wall speaker systems – KEF Ci5160RLM-THX and KEF Ci3160RLM-THX
The two new models are so-called in-wall speaker systems, so it is of immense importance that they can be installed flexibly and easily. And this is exactly what the two new KEF Ci5160RLM-THX and KEF Ci3160RLM-THX speakers are designed to offer, as KEF emphasises. In particular, even more installation options are available here to make it even easier to realise even complex and extensive projects based on high-performance systems.
Once again, it is striking that the two new KEF Ci5160RLM-THX and KEF Ci3160RLM-THX systems are designed in such a way that they do not have to be hidden away, but rather present themselves with an extremely elegant aluminium finish, in which the drivers of the speakers are shown to their best advantage.
If desired, however, you can of course opt for a very discreet installation with paintable magnetic metal covers that blend seamlessly into any living environment. A black fabric cover is also available on request.
KEF 12th generation Uni-Chassis with KEF MAT
KEF is providing solutions in the area of customer installation that offer the same technical features as the systems in the KEF Reference Series. The two new systems rely above all on 12th generation KEF Uni-Q drivers, i.e. a solution in which the tweeter is located in the centre of the midrange driver, i.e. a coaxial driver. From KEF’s point of view, this represents almost the ideal of a point source.
Naturally, these KEF Uni-Q drivers are equipped with the unique KEF MAT, the so-called metamaterial absorption technology, which, according to KEF, eliminates up to 99 per cent of high-frequency distortion for a pure, natural sound.
The KEF Uni-Q drivers are flanked by hybrid woofers that rely on aluminium cones for a tight, deep and always controlled bass.
We have already mentioned that the two new speaker systems are THX Certified Ultra, which according to the manufacturer is clear evidence of a particularly impressive sound performance and outstanding cinema sound.
To put it in a nutshell, the KEF KEF Ci5160RLM-THX has a 12-generation KEF Uni-Q driver and four 16.5 cm hybrid aluminium woofers, while the KEF Ci3160RLM-THX combines the KEF Uni-Q driver with two 16.5 cm hybrid aluminium drivers.
Prices and availability
The two new solutions KEF Ci5160RLM-THX and KEF Ci3160RLM-THX will be available immediately from specialist retailers, as KEF announces, at a recommended retail price of € 3.000,- per unit for the KEF Ci5160RLM-THX and € 2.000,- per unit for the KEF Ci3160RLM-THX.
