IsoAcoustics Aperta Sub XL, with this product, which will celebrate its premiere at the High End 2023, the Canadian specialist for decoupling systems IsoAcoustics Inc. once again presents a very special solution. As the name suggests, it is a decoupling solution for subwoofers, based on the already well-known IsoAcoustics Aperta Sub, but designed for particularly large subwoofers.
Based on patented technology from IsoAcoustics Inc., the new IsoAcoustics Aperta Sub XL is designed to accommodate subwoofers weighing up to an impressive 72.5 kg.
Based on the IsoAcoustics Aperta Sub
Two years ago, IsoAcoustics Inc. presented the IsoAcoustics Aperta Sub, another member of the IsoAcoustics Aperta Series, a product line designed for the optimal placement of loudspeaker systems, in this case, however, adapted to the special requirements in combination with a subwoofer.
In principle, decoupling is achieved by not transferring energy into the subfloor, but by “destroying” it through special design features by the solutions of the IsoAcoustics Aperta Series.
This, of course, is exactly how the new IsoAcoustics Aperta Sub XL works, and like its smaller sister model, it too decouples the subwoofer from the subfloor. Its specially optimised internal isolators absorb the energy that would otherwise be transferred to the sub and disrupt the sound image. With the help of the IsoAcoustics Aperta Sub XL, the energy is prevented from being reflected and reflected back into the cabinet, which would make the sound imprecise. By using the IsoAcoustics Aperta Sub XL, a significant improvement in clarity and definition is achieved.
And this even with very, very powerful subwoofers, because as already mentioned, nothing stands in the way of using the new IsoAcoustics Aperta Sub XL up to 72.5 kg in weight.
Discreet placement under the subwoofer
Because the new IsoAcoustics Aperta Sub XL was designed for particularly powerful subwoofers, special attention was paid to discreet integration. After all, it would be counterproductive if a powerful subwoofer appeared even more dominant because it was placed on top of a decoupling solution.
Since most subwoofers are built with feet in all four corners, the IsoAcoustics Aperta Sub XL wisely uses the space between the feet as a contact surface. This design decision is particularly important because the isolators are directional to help keep the speaker’s energy on axis. For placement on carpets, carpet discs with spikes are included. The dimensions of the IsoAcoustics Aperta Sub XL are given by the manufacturer as 368 x 406 x 37 mm.
Prices and availability
The new IsoAcoustics Aperta Sub XL will celebrate its premiere at the High End 2023 in Munich. Perhaps then we will find out when and at what price this solution will actually be available in specialist shops, because at the moment they are still keeping quiet about this.
