Innuos presents innuOS 2.6 – Extended support for streaming services, optimised user interface

According to Innuos, it was originally planned as a discreet service release in the form of innuOS 2.5.5, but now a comprehensive update is available, so much so that it has been labelled a major release and presented as innuOS 2.6.

Story Highlights
  • Innuos solutions can now rely on a new operating system version, as innuOS 2.6 is now available.

Innuos has been developing high-quality streaming systems since 2009, focussing first and foremost on the highest possible quality through outstanding performance combined with particularly easy handling. Innuos solutions are therefore aimed at hi-fi enthusiasts who want streaming at the highest quality level but don’t really want to deal with the technical background.

For years, the focus has therefore been on an operating system that can fulfil these requirements, the so-called innuOS, which is now available in the latest version as innuOS 2.6.

innuOS 2.6 instead of innuOS 2.5.5

In a blog entry, the company points out that the update now available was originally planned as a pure service release; the intention was to offer this in the form of innuOS 2.5.5 and to make a few bug fixes in this context.

However, it turned out that not only bug fixes were made during development, but the range of functions was also expanded to such an extent that in the end it is not a service release, but rather a major release with numerous new features, and the decision was therefore made to call it innuOS 2.6.

The company speaks of a considerable step forward in terms of ease of use and promises to have implemented many functions requested by users with this update.

Numerous new features and many detailed improvements

The latest update actually contains numerous new features and, above all, many detailed improvements, a full list of which would clearly go beyond the scope of this article. However, the manufacturer provides this list in full detail on its website anyway, which is why we will leave it at this point with a corresponding reference.

However, it should be mentioned that the new innuOS 2.6 version comes with Deezer support, access to TIDAL Max and thus FLAC files with up to 24 bit and 192 kHz, USB Drive Playback and Multiple NAS Shared Folders support, and adaptations to the user interface for easier use. The latter innovations include an A-Z Navigation Index and a Music Page that can be flexibly customised to suit individual preferences, as well as a new Now Playing Screen.

Prices and availability

For existing users, innoOS 2.6 is of course available immediately as a free update.

Getting to the point

Innuos has always been known for consistently developing and improving its solutions and offering customers corresponding updates. This is made possible by the innuOS operating system, which has been continuously optimised over the years and has now reached version innuOS 2.6.
