Gold Note CD-1000 MKII Deluxe DSD - The most musical high-end CD player in a new deluxe version
Gold Note promises great things for the Gold Note CD-1000 MKII Deluxe DSD. After all, this is supposed to be the most musical high-end CD player, according to the Italian high-end hi-fi company, which also describes it as a state-of-the-art audio CD player.
- Gold Note has always described the Gold Note CD-1000 MKII as a state-of-the-art CD player, which is now also available in a new deluxe version as the Gold Note CD-1000 MKII Deluxe DSD.
Akamai s.r.l. is convinced that the Gold Note CD-1000 MKII Deluxe DSD is the most musical high-end audio CD player. Even the “standard version” of the Gold Note Series 1000 CD player, the Gold Note CD-1000 MKII, combines an excellent drive with an impeccable converter, balanced signal processing and a solid power supply, all of which is packed into an extremely elegant housing, so that the Gold Note CD-1000 MKII can meet even the highest demands in every respect.
The Gold Note CD-1000 MKII Deluxe DSD is the latest version of the very exclusive Gold Note CD-1000 MKII, and now features an additional USB port that can handle signals in Linear PCM at up to 32-bit and 384 kHz, plus DSD including DSD256.
Gold Note CD-1000 MKII Deluxe DSD – Not an SACD player
The name chosen by Gold Note for the new exclusive version of the Gold Note CD-1000 MKII is a little unusual, as it could lead to the misconception that it is a Super Audio CD player, which is not the case.
The Gold Note CD-1000 MKII Deluxe DSD is also designed solely for the playback of Redbook-compatible audio CDs, using a JPL-2800 from the Vienna-based specialist StreamUnlimited Engineering GmbH as the drive.
The converter used in the Gold Note CD-1000 MKII is a TI PCM1796 Burr-Brown DAC from Texas Instruments, which processes signals in linear PCM at up to 24 bits and 192 kHz, whereby these can also come from an optical and coaxial S/PDIF interface as digital inputs for other sources. Further signal processing is carried out via a balanced output stage.
Gold Note CD-1000 MKII Deluxe DSD – The successor of the Gold Note CD-1000 MKII Deluxe
Until now, Gold Note offered the Gold Note CD-1000 MKII Deluxe, a more exclusive version of the CD player with an even better D/A converter. It was based on the Texas Instruments TI PCM1792A Burr-Brown DAC, but was also limited to linear PCM signal processing at up to 24 bits and 192 kHz.
With the new Gold Note CD-1000 MKII Deluxe DSD, on the other hand, an additional USB port is now available, and via this the D/A converter of the new CD player is able to process signals in Linear PCM up to 32 bits and 384 kHz as well as DSD up to and including DSD256.
For the sake of completeness, it should be mentioned that the new Gold Note CD-1000 MKII Deluxe DSD can also be flexibly expanded, just like the previously available models, with a tube output stage in the form of Gold Note TUBE-1006 or Gold Note TUBE-1012, as well as external power supplies in the form of the products Gold Note PSU-1250 and Gold Note PSU-1000.
Prices and availability
As before, the new exclusive version of the Gold Note CD-1000 MKII, the Gold Note CD-1000 MKII Deluxe DSD, is of course available in gold, black and silver.
Getting to the point
It is the latest deluxe version of the Gold Note CD-1000 MKII, which the Italian high-end hi-fi manufacturer Gold Note now presents with the new Gold Note CD-1000 MKII Deluxe DSD. Even if the name might suggest that it is now a Super Audio CD player, the innovations only concern the signal processing of digital data from external sources, because the new Gold Note CD-1000 MKII Deluxe DSD now has an additional USB port that makes the full potential of the converter from Texas Instruments available and, in addition to 32 bit and 384 kHz, now also enables DSD up to DSD256.
