The Bang & Olufsen BeoLab 90 is probably one of the most unusual loudspeaker systems on a market that is not lacking in unusual products anyway. This is an exclusive active loudspeaker system that the Danish specialist Bang & Olufsen already brought onto the market several years ago, and of which they are now presenting a new interpretation with the new Bang & Olufsen BeoLab 90 Limited Edition.

As Bang & Olufsen points out, the new Bang & Olufsen BeoLab 90 Limited Edition should be seen as a tribute to craftsmanship and innovation, a masterpiece designed to delight and captivate even the most discerning listeners.

Unique combination of technology, design and craftsmanship

As mentioned earlier, the regular version of the Bang & Olufsen BeoLab 90 is already a very special loudspeaker system, so to top this and create a particularly exclusive version was no easy task for the product developers and designers, but it was made easier by the fact that they were seemingly not given any specifications regarding a price to be achieved. The developers and designers were therefore able to draw from the full range of features that the new Bang & Olufsen BeoLab 90 Limited Edition has to offer.

The manufacturer states that the new Bang & Olufsen BeoLab 90 Limited Edition fascinates with the use of extraordinary materials that stand for luxury and exclusivity.

An exclusive, unique sculpture

The Bang & Olufsen BeoLab 90 Limited Edition resembles a massive sculpture, yet it still looks delicate, thanks to a very special construction. The upper tower is made of 10 mm thick plastic, while the main cabinet is cast from solid aluminium.

The struts connecting the so-called aluminium crowns, which enclose the speaker system and create an unmistakable polyhedral shape, are made of solid walnut wood and accented with 24-carat gold-plated nodes.

This combination of fine wood and precious gold gives the speaker an incomparable aura of sophistication, as the manufacturer himself describes it.

In order to raise the acoustic transparency to a new level, the traditional textile cover of this loudspeaker system has been replaced by an elegant metal grille. The grille consists of thin bronze threads mounted on a frame with constant tension to ensure perfect acoustic transparency while giving the sculpture a novel and luxurious character that plays with the light in the room throughout the day. Each of these grilles is handcrafted by an artisan specialising in metalworking and pattern making.

The wood trim at the base of the speakers has been crafted from burr walnut, just like vintage luxury cars.

The front panel is also finished in 24 carat gold to give the speaker system a particularly exclusive touch.

The avant-garde silhouette of the speaker reveals, according to the manufacturer, an exposed top that reveals the sound art inside. For lovers of the classic design of the Bang & Olufsen BeoLab 90, an attractive metal grille is also available for the top of the speaker.

The Bang & Olufsen BeoLab 90 Limited Edition is further enhanced by two 24 carat gold-plated shoulder plates on the sides of the speaker, with space for personalisation. Here, the buyer can engrave his or her name, for example, according to personal preferences, making the speaker system uniquely their own.

Prices and availability

First of all, if you are interested in the new Bang & Olufsen BeoLab 90 Limited Edition, you should get your hands on it quickly, because as the Danish company states, there will be no more than 50 pairs of this loudspeaker system in the world. This number fits perfectly, as there will be no more than 100 units of this extraordinary loudspeaker system, fitting for the upcoming 100th birthday of Bang & Olufsen.

Bang & Olufsen speaks of the principle “first-ask, first-served” and of a unique opportunity to acquire an extraordinary new interpretation of sound and design.

Anyone who has to ask about the price here is clearly not the target group. As a guideline, however, the recommended retail value of the regular version of the Bang & Olufsen BeoLab 90 is € 125.000,-. It is safe to assume that the price of the Bang & Olufsen BeoLab 90 Limited Edition will be even higher.

The Bang & Olufsen BeoLab 90 Limited Edition is intended to be a very exceptional, a particularly exclusive loudspeaker system, which can already be seen as an outstanding solution in the context of the 100th anniversary of Bang & Olufsen. Accordingly, there will be no more than 50 pairs of this exquisite system, and thus 100 pieces, as the Danes explicitly state.
