Violectric DHA V590 2 and Violectric DHA V380 2

Two headphone amplifiers with integrated D/A converters are to be available with the Violectric DHA V590 2 and Violectric DHA V380 2 solutions, and at reference level, as the manufacturer Lake People electronic GmbH puts on record.

To offer the experience and expertise in the professional field for hi-fi enthusiasts, this is the mission of the Violectric brand and this is to be offered once again with the two solutions Violectric DHA V590 2 and Violectric DHA V380 2.

Lake People electronic GmbH thus presents two headphone amplifiers with integrated D/A converter of the Violectric brand, which one promotes as solutions of the reference class.

Violectric DHA V590 2 and Violectric DHA V380 2 – The new generation

With the new solutions Violectric DHA V590 2 and Violectric DHA V380 2 the latest generations of those products are available, which Lake People electronic GmbH presented last year with the systems Violectric DHA V380 as well as Violectric DHA V590 and Violectric DHA V590 PRO.

D/A converter from ESS Technology Inc. replaces DAC from AKM

Taking a closer look at the systems, it is also clear why they are launching a new generation after such a short time. The company from Lake Constance is also forced to make appropriate adaptations due to the tense situation on the world market.

For example, the previous solutions used converters from Asahi Kasei Microdevices Corporation, which are simply not available at present. The company now relies on solutions from ESS Technology Inc.

The two systems feature newly developed ESS ES9026 PRO converters, which are capable of processing audio signals in Linear PCM format at up to 32 bits and 384 kHz. DSD up to DSD256 is also supported in principle, but this relies on DoP, i.e. DSD over PCM.

Open for digital and analog sources

Neither the Violectric DHA V590 2 nor the Violectric DHA V380 2 lacks various connections, as both are essentially equipped with everything you would expect in this area.

First of all, there is the classic optical and coaxial S/PDIF interface, and there is also a USB port for direct connection to a PC or Mac. The Violectric DHA V590 2 also has an AES/EBU interface.

For analog sources, the Violectric DHA V590 2 and Violectric DHA V380 2 each have two unbalanced line inputs with RCA jacks, while the Violectric DHA V590 2 has one more feature in this regard, namely a balanced input in the form of XLR jacks.

The rear outputs can be switched in front of or behind the volume control. The various inputs and outputs can be selected via remote control and – on the Violectric DHA V590 2 via buttons, on the Violectric DHA V380 2 via toggle switches. Headphones and line outputs can be used simultaneously on the Violectric DHA V590 2. In principle, the Violectric DHA V590 2 and Violectric DHA V380 2 systems are also preamplifiers, although the Violectric DHA V590 2 is a bit more flexible in this respect.

Flexible headphone amplifiers

Up to three headphones can be recorded via one balanced and two unbalanced front connectors. Depending on the type of headphones, level adjustments can be made on the amplifier’s rear panel with pre-gain switches.

Due to the high output voltage, the large power and the high damping factor, the Violectric DHA V590 2 and Violectric DHA V380 2 can really drive any type of headphones effortlessly, according to the manufacturer.

High-quality components installed by hand

In order to meet its own demands and those of its customers, Lake People electronic GmbG also consistently relies on the highest care in the selection of materials and workmanship for the new Violectric DHA V590 2 and Violectric DHA V380 2 systems, according to the manufacturer’s promise. Translated by the converters in the best quality, the signal by a Violectric DHA V590 2 motorized and remotely controllable Alps RK 27 with eight transistors for the unbalanced headphone channels and 16 transistors for the balanced headphone channel is suitably levelled. Also, this offers a balance control which also relies on an Alps RK 27.

Other circuitry protects the units from DC current, overload or overvoltage and delays the power-up process to protect the headphones. All components are carefully installed by hand in a discreet, black anodized housing with a six-millimeter-thick front panel on the Violectric DHA V380 2 or even an eight-millimeter-thick front panel on the Violectric DHA V590 2.

Violectric DHA V590 2 PRO

Also in this generation Lake People electronic GmbH offers an even further optimized version of the Violectric DHA V590 2, namely the Violectric DHA V590 2 PRO.

In the PRO version, a 256-stage reed relay circuit replaces the volume control of the Violectric DHA V590 2, providing absolutely precise level control.

According to the manufacturer, the Violectric DHA V590 2, Violectric DHA V590 2 PRO and Violectric DHA V380 2 systems should already be available in stores these days.

As already mentioned, the Violectric DHA V590 2 comes with a matching remote control.

The recommended retail price for the Violectric DHA V380 2 is € 2,299, for the Violectric DHA V590 2 € 3,299, and for the Violectric DHA V590 2 PRO € 3,799.

Getting to the point

It is primarily due to the currently tense situation on the market that Lake People electronic GmbH presents the two headphone amplifiers with integrated D/A converter Violectric DHA V590 2 and Violectric DHA V380 2 as successors of the systems Violectric DHA V590 and Violectric DHA V380 presented only last year. These systems used converters from Asahi Kasei Microdevices Corporation, which are currently simply not available and have therefore been replaced by solutions from the specialist ESS Technology Inc.
