Touraj Moghaddam, the founder and CEO of Vertere Limited, is once again presenting a drive that is intended to mark the entry into solutions of his company and a solution that features detail improvements in many essential areas.

Vertere DG-1 S Dynamic Groove Record Player – The new generation of the entry level drive

In view of a price beyond € 4.000,- it is of course a bit strange to speak of an entry-level drive, but already the Vertere DG-1 was designed to be the cheapest drive from Vertere Limited, nevertheless it had all the characteristic features to guarantee a particularly musical performance.

Exactly this is now also true for the latest generation, which is to be available with the Vertere DG-1 S Dynamic Groove Record Player.

Numerous detail improvements

Vertere Limited emphasizes that the three years that have passed since the market launch of the Vertere DG-1 Dynamic Groove Record Player have been used for meticulous further development and that these results can now be presented with the new Vertere DG-1 S Dynamic Groove Record Player.

Thus the technological innovations of the Vertere DG-1 S Dynamic Groove Record Player are to lead to more resolution, a higher dynamic, a better channel separation and a higher precision, the HiFi smithy shows up convinced. It was essential to maintain one of the most essential features, and that is the high musicality with which the reproduction of record.

Futuristic design

Probably the most striking feature of the new Vertere DG-1 S Dynamic Groove Record Player is its clearly futuristic design. This is mainly due to the special choice of materials, which Vertere Limited also chose for this turntable.

Compared to some other turntables, which are quite bulky or at least very massive in design, the almost graceful appearance is also due to this choice of materials.

Sandwich construction for the frame

The developers of the Vertere DG-1 S Dynamic Groove Record Player used a sandwich construction for both the frame and the subframe, with resonance-free acrylic layers forming the basis. The basis in turn is a particularly stable steel chassis that accommodates all functional modules and can be leveled via three newly developed adjustable feet.

Motor system based on the reference model Vertere RG-1 Reference Groove Record Player

Special care was taken with the motor as well as the motor control, because according to Vertere Limited these components are decisive for the quality that the entire turntable can achieve.

Therefore, it was decided to design the motor system of the Vertere DG-1 S Dynamic Groove Record Player based on the reference system Vertere RG-1 Reference Groove Record Player, thus achieving an innovative control for the highest possible precision.

The motor is a 24-pole low-voltage synchronous motor whose power supply can be individually adjusted to minimize vibration, according to the manufacturer. The motor control, in turn, is based on a microprocessor that can be programmed for any updates, he said. In order to avoid interference, a housing made of copper and stainless steel is used here.

The speed is controlled via touch buttons that are integrated into the drive’s frame.

High precision manufactured turntable

The platter of the Vertere DG-1 S Dynamic Groove Record Player is made of an aluminum alloy and has a PETG top surface. The underside is damped with cork, neoprene and nitrile to prevent resonance at the beginning.

The platter of the Vertere DG-1 S Dynamic Groove Record Player is driven by a CNC-machined pulley made of an aluminum alloy and a precision-machined silicone belt.

The platter rotates in a stainless steel bearing shaft with extremely tight tolerances, as described by the manufacturer itself, and on a tungsten carbide bearing ball, using a long-lasting lubricant to prevent wear. By the way, the platter bearing is isolated from the frame by means of a silicone element, as the manufacturer states.

Vertere Groove Runner S tonearm

It is a very typical product of Vertere Limited, the Vertrere Groove Runner S tonearm, which is used on this turntable. The flat construction is striking here, because instead of a tonearm tube, the company relies on a flat profile made of two five-layer laminates, which is very rigid on the one hand, and also prevents resonance. Instead of a tonearm cable, flexible gold-plated conductor tracks are used here, which are bonded directly to the arm. A stainless steel counterweight with azimuth adjustment and fine adjustment of the contact force forms the end of the tonearm, which in the opinion of Vertere Limited represents a simple and at the same time innovative design.

Incidentally, the tonearm bearing also represents a special feature, because here one relies on two strands of hundreds of 3 µm thick twisted nylon threads for the horizontal, and two Kevlar strands for the vertical suspension.

According to Vertere Limited, this special design is superior to conventional bearings due to virtually no adhesion, extremely low weight, and absolutely noise-free operation with simultaneous optimal damping of the tone arm.

Integrated standby lighting

Another special feature of the new Vertere DG-1 S Dynamic Groove Record Player is the integrated, programmable standby lighting, which is guaranteed to be a special optical eye-catcher.

Finally, it should be mentioned that the scope of delivery includes a matching dust cover, which according to the manufacturer is designed as a low-resonance polycarbonate cover with integrated hinges.

The scope of delivery also includes a suitable power supply, whereby an upgrade is optionally offered with the Vertere Challenger.
