TIDAL presents TIDAL Connect – Music streaming directly from the CloudM

TIDAL is probably one of the most popular music streaming services, especially when it comes to content in “CD quality” or even Hi-res audio. Demanding users who make use of this offer should now be able to control music playback on a wide variety of solutions even more easily, using the new TIDAL Connect.

Looking at the market of online streaming providers, two of the leading providers are Spotify and TIDAL. These two are clearly different in terms of the target group, because while Spotify addresses a very broad range of customers, TIDAL is more popular with more demanding users. The reason for this is obvious: while Spotify still offers content in lossy compressed form, TIDAL at least offers “CD quality”, and also boasts a wide range of content in hi-res audio.

Spotify, however, is clearly more convenient, especially when it comes to seamless music playback across a wide range of devices from different manufacturers. This is due to the Spotify Connect interface, which allows to select different streaming solutions directly from the Spotify app and to control the playback. The communication takes place directly from the cloud, the smartphone or tablet serves as remote control and can be used for other tasks in between.

TIDAL, on the other hand, is also supported by many streaming products, especially in the premium and high-end segment, but music playback always requires the app from the respective manufacturer, which takes control.

Now TIDAL is clearly following in the footsteps of Spotify in order to enable the direct integration of various streaming solutions from different manufacturers. In fact, TIDAL itself has taken its cue from Spotify when naming its latest function and simply calls the new option of directly integrating a wide variety of hardware into its own app TIDAL Connect.

It has never been so easy to enjoy music via TIDAL on different systems, says TIDAL, promoting the latest interface, TIDAL Connect, which will be available immediately. Users no longer have to call up a separate app of their streaming solution to activate or control music playback via TIDAL. Instead, solutions compatible to TIDAL Connect are now listed directly in the TIDAL app for Apple iOS and Google Android and can be selected for playback.

The selection of all available devices in the network is done via a corresponding icon, which can now be found on the “Current playback” screen of the TIDAL App. At the bottom left is the corresponding device selection with TIDAL Connect capable devices, whereby the user can of course switch between different systems at any time without any problems.

It is essential that the actual data transfer for music playback is not via smartphone or tablet, but directly from the cloud to the selected streaming system. The mobile device, be it a smartphone or tablet, serves as a remote control and can be used for other tasks such as making calls, checking emails, surfing the web and much more.

Right from the start of TIDAL Connect, TIDAL is leading a large number of hardware manufacturers as partners who directly support this new function.

The BluOS platform stands out, of course, because it supports an enormous number of different products from Bluesound, Bluesound Professional, NAD Electronics, Dali Speaker A/S and Monitor Audio Ltd. TIDAL also lists Cambridge Audio and their platform Cambridge Audio StreamMagic, KEF, Lyngdorf, iFi Audio, Naim and the technology company StreamUnlimited as partners for TIDAL Connect.

We are sure that these companies will not be the only ones, but countless other manufacturers will announce their support for TIDAL Connect in the coming weeks. TIDAL Connect is expected to become a major interface in the market for streaming solutions, especially in the high quality segment.

Getting to the point

TIDAL is now clearly following in the footsteps of Spotify, as is Spotify Connect, which enables the most direct possible integration of various streaming solutions from a wide range of manufacturers. In fact, TIDAL has even oriented itself in the naming of the latest function in Spotify and calls the new possibility of directly integrating a wide variety of hardware into its own app simply TIDAL Connect. Right from the start of TIDAL Connect, the company has numerous partners, and in the coming weeks, countless other manufacturers will announce their support for TIDAL Connect. TIDAL Connect is expected to become an important interface in the market for streaming solutions, especially in the high quality segment.
