Technics EAH-AZ40 and Technics EAH-AZ60 – In-ear Headphones with Technics JustMyVoice Technology

The new Wireles in-ear headphones from the Technics brand, the Technics EAH-AZ40 and Technics EAH-AZ60, are supposed to stand out with a variety of outstanding technologies. In addition to Technics JustMyVoice in both models, the Technics EAH-AZ60 also feature Technics Dual Hybrid Noise Cancelling Technology. Both are also said to offer outstanding sound quality in the premium class.

The Technics EAH-AZ40 and Technics EAH-AZ60 are two new true wireless in-ear headphones from the Technics brand, which are not only characterised by excellent sound quality, but also by a number of outstanding features, as Panasonic Corporation announced on the occasion of the presentation.

First and foremost, Technics is focusing on a constantly undisturbed reproduction as well as the best voice quality, which is to be achieved through an innovative acoustic design, the Technics Dual Hybrid Noise Cancelling Technology, as well as Technics JustMyVoice Technology.

According to the manufacturer, the two in-ear headphones are particularly suitable for people who are mobile and therefore often on the move, or who work in a noisy environment. With the models Technics EAH-AZ40 and Technics EAH-AZ60, the focus is naturally also on those users who use these in-ear headphones as a headset, for example in the home office.

55 years of experience as a basis for premium sound quality

First and foremost, Technics cites its 55 years of experience in the development of high-quality audio systems as proof that the two new true wireless in-ear headphones, the Technics EAH-AZ40 and the Technics EAH-AZ60, achieve a sound level that places them in the premium class.

The manufacturer promises a unique acoustic design for both the Technics EAH-AZ40 and, of course, especially for its bigger brother, the Technics EAH-AZ60, which, in combination with the drivers used in each case, delivers a powerful, detailed sound and also offers a wide sound stage. This is a feature that is not so easy to achieve with in-ear headphones, by the way.

It is clear that the two in-ear headphones Technics EAH-AZ40 and Technics EAH-AZ60 are intended to present themselves with the sound philosophy that characterises the Technics brand as a whole.

Technics EAH-AZ40

The True Wireless In-ear headphones Technics EAH-AZ40 use a driver with a diameter of 6 mm and thus allow for a particularly slim design. Once again, the manufacturer promises a clear, detailed and dynamic sound for the Technics EAH-AZ40, so that all details of the music reproduction can be enjoyed.

The signal transmission of the Technics EAH-AZ40 is done via Bluetooth 5.2, supporting the profiles A2DP, AVRCP, HSP and HFP. The Technics EAH-AZ40 uses the two codecs SBC and AAC, which means that lossless signal transmission in CD quality or even hi-res audio is not available.

Technics EAH-AZ60

The new Technics EAH-AZ60 is a bit bigger, because the developers rely on a driver with a diameter of 8 mm, promising an even finer, clearer and more dynamic reproduction.

This is also ensured by Bluetooth 5.2 for signal transmission, which supports the profiles A2DP, AVRCP, HSP and HFP, whereby the Technics EAH-AZ60 offers LDAC in addition to the lossy codecs SBC and AAC. This enables signal transmission via “CD quality” in hi-res audio, namely with 24 bit and 96 kHz, at least if the source device also supports this, as is the case with portable hi-res audio players, a so-called DAP.

Technics JustMyVoice Technology

Of course, both in-ear headphones can be used as hands-free devices, whereby this is not only relevant for telephone calls in combination with a smartphone, but also for video calls in the home cinema.

Therefore, the developers equipped both models with the so-called Technics JustMyVoice Technology.

According to the manufacturer, this Technics JustMyVoice Technology is a particularly innovative solution for best voice quality.

The Technics EAH-AZ60, for example, has a total of eight microphones on the left and right ear inserts and ensures pleasant and natural telephoning. Special speech recognition microphones are designed to recognise the voice as it is spoken, while the two MEMS microphones actively detect the voice and reduce ambient noise using beamforming technology for a clear call.

This enables a phone call to be made with excellent quality both in noisy environments and in the home office, according to the manufacturer’s promise.

In addition, the new True Wireless models are equipped with wind noise reduction technology, one of the most important features for perfect voice transmission on the go, according to the manufacturer.

For this purpose, the Technics EAH-AZ60 and the Technics EAH-AZ40 use microphones that are located deep inside the earpieces to minimise vibrations caused by air currents and to conduct a conversation without disturbing wind noise.

Technics EAH-Z60 with Technics Dual Hybrid Noise Cancelling Technology

The Technics EAH-AZ60 is also equipped with a particularly sophisticated active noise cancellation system, Technics Dual Hybrid Noise Cancelling Technology, which the company describes as an industry-leading solution in this field.

It combines feedforward and feedback noise cancelling, as well as digital and analogue signal processing, for highly effective cancellation of both external and internal noise.

Feedforward technology detects all noise outside the headphones and generates a counter signal based on known noise patterns, which completely blocks out ambient noise.

The feedback system also analyses unwanted noise inside the headphones. Thanks to the noise filters used and analogue signal processing with lightning-fast response time, it is ensured that all disturbing noises are accurately suppressed and the user can concentrate solely on the music, but also on conversations.

At least, if this is what is desired, because of course it can be helpful or even necessary to still hear something from the surroundings. For this purpose, two so-called interaction modes are available, namely the Natural Ambient mode and an Attention mode.

High wearing comfort

The manufacturer promises particularly high wearing comfort for both headphone models, with the Technics EAH-AZ40 and Technics EAH-AZ60 using a teardrop shape for the housing design.

In addition, both models are very light: the Technics EAH-AZ40 weighs only 5 grams per ear insert, while the Technics EAH-AZ60 weighs only seven grams per ear insert.

Of course, both models are delivered with numerous earmoulds in different sizes, shapes and materials, so that the user should find the model that suits him or her best.

Transport box with powerbank function

Of course, both headphone models come with a transport box, which in turn has an integrated rechargeable battery and thus ensures longer playing time away from the power socket.

According to the manufacturer, the two models can play for up to seven and a half hours at a time; with the transport box, you can be independent of the power outlet for up to 25 hours.

The batteries of the in-ear headphones can be charged in about two hours; charging the headphones and the transport box at the same time takes about three to three and a half hours.

A quick-charge function allows you to enjoy up to 90 minutes of music after 15 minutes.

Charging is done via USB, of course, and the matching cable is part of the delivery.

Both headphones are IPX4 certified and therefore particularly robust for daily use in all weather conditions.

Of course, a suitable app is not to be missed; this is available in the form of the Technics Audio Connect app for both Apple iOS and Google Android.

For every taste

The Technics EAH-AZ40 and Technics EAH-AZ60 models are offered in several colours, whereby the manufacturer, in keeping with the target group, restricts itself to rather elegant rather than hip, gaudy design variants. The Technics EAH-AZ40 is available in silver, black and rose gold, the Technics EAH-AZ60 in dolomite silver and graphite black.

The recommended retail price for the Technics EAH-AZ40 is € 149,- and for the Technics EAH-AZ60 € 229,-.

Getting to the point

These are extremely elegant True Wireless in-ear headphones that Panasonic Corporation is now presenting as new solutions from the Technics brand. The solutions Technics EAH-AZ40 and Technics EAH-AZ60 also prove to be products from a technical point of view, which clearly belong to the premium segment. This also applies to the sound, which the manufacturer explicitly emphasises and for which it uses its many years of expertise as a powerful argument.
