SVS 3000 Micro Subwoofer – Tiny powerhouse

The performance of a reference subwoofer, not only in a small version, but even in a micro version, is what the US specialist SVS promises for its latest solution, the SVS 3000 Micro Subwoofer.

SVS 3000 Micro Subwoofer, this new subwoofer from the US specialist SVS is supposed to offer one thing above all else, namely the qualities expected of a solution from the company from Youngstown, with downright tiny dimensions. Considering that subwoofers simply need a certain volume to do their job in the best possible way, this is a very exciting promise.

SVS 3000 Micro Subwoofer – Magic trick…

The company says that this new subwoofer is “like a magic trick”, because it is compact enough to fit effortlessly into any living space, but at the same time it delivers nothing less than breathtaking bass.

The new SVS 3000 Micro Subwoofer is the first subwoofer that is so compact that it does not require any sacrifice in performance, although the developers had to come very close to the limits of physics in order to actually achieve this goal, according to the company’s description.

Indeed one of the most compact subwoofers…

But what exactly does compact mean when we talk about a very compact subwoofer? Well, a glance at the data sheet reveals that the new SVS 3000 Micro Subwoofer measures 297 mm wide, 271 mm deep and 278 mm high. If I may say so, that is really tiny. The weight of 10.2 kg proves that the subwoofer is based on an extremely solid construction consisting of multiple internally braced MDF.

True to SVS’s product design philosophy.

SVS products should reflect a fusion of the best available technology, expert engineering, extensive testing and, above all, the development team’s relentless passion for audio excellence, the company says. All of this, of course, applies to the new SVS 3000 Micro Subwoofer, they say, once again aiming to redefine performance for the price and challenge the entire audio industry to step up its game.

Active Dual-Opposing 8 Inch Driver

In the case of the SVS 3000 Micro Subwoofer, this means relying on an Active Dual-Opposing 8 Inch Driver in its smallest form, i.e. using two Ultra-Low Distortion drivers positioned opposite each other, each with numerous outstanding design features.

800 Watt Amplifier with 2,500 Watt Peak

The subwoofers are driven by a Sledge STA-800DM amplifier module with a fully discrete MOSFET design, delivering an impressive 800 watts RMS or even 2,500 watts peak. The frequency response of the SVS 3000 Micro Subwoofer, designed as a closed subwoofer, is specified by the manufacturer as 23 to 240 Hz.

DSP-based signal processing

A very important point of the new SVS 3000 Micro Subwoofer, however, is that it can rely on DSP-based signal processing, with the help of which it is possible to realise an always optimal reproduction in the personal environment in a particularly comfortable way.

This is a DSP circuit at the heart of which is a 50MHz Analog Devices audio DSP with precise 56-bit filtering. SVS believes this provides the industry’s best processing power for advanced control and pristine output.

Control app

The SVS 3000 Micro Subwoofer can be connected via Bluetooth using a smartphone or tablet, and all relevant parameters and much more can be set with the help of the SVS App. The user can directly control parameters to optimise system performance such as low-pass filter, phase, polarity, room gain and three parametric equalisers, and three presets are available for perfect tuning in any room and for any system. Since a bidirectional connection is used, all changes are always visible via the app, even if you change parameters directly on the subwoofer, which is of course also possible. For this purpose, the manufacturer has come up with a particularly intuitive control panel, which also guarantees intuitive operation by means of buttons and status LEDs. The manufacturer refers to this as an Intelligent Control Interface, or ICI for short.

The SVS app is not only available for Apple iOS and Google Android, but also for Amazon FireOS.

Optionally also wireless…

The SVS 3000 Micro Subwoofer offers a pair of cinch sockets as stereo input, whereby one of these cinch sockets can also be used as LFE, and another pair of cinch sockets is available as output.

An important task is fulfilled by a USB port, which is used to control the SVS 3000 Micro subwoofer “wirelessly”, i.e. via radio, and to supply the corresponding module with power. The company offers this module in the form of the SVS SoundPath Wireless Audio Adapter.

The new SVS 3000 Micro Subwoofer as the latest solution of the SVS 3000 Series will be offered in black and white and should be available in specialist shops soon.

Getting to the point

Subwoofers are becoming more and more sophisticated solutions that are equally suitable for home cinema and thus multichannel audio, but also for stereo. What is remarkable is that even the most compact solutions are entering the market with technologically exciting features that promise a performance at a level that should not be inferred from the tiny dimensions, such as the latest addition to the SVS 3000 Series by specialist SVS, the SVS 3000 Micro Subwoofer.
