Sennheiser IE 600 – Setting new standards

Exceptional down to the last detail is how Sennheiser Consumer Audio Gmbh describes the new Sennheiser IE 600, which it also describes as an audiophile solution for enjoying music on the move at the highest level. The company is convinced that this will set new standards.

The Sennheiser IE 600 is intended to set new standards in terms of sound neutrality, the company Sennheiser Consumer Audio GmbH is convinced and describes this new in-ear headphones as an audiophile solution that is exceptional to the last detail. A balanced frequency response for an undistorted, natural reproduction, the highest wearing comfort and an extremely robust housing in careful workmanship are said to distinguish this new in-ear headphone.

The new Sennheiser IE 600 is the first product to be launched under the new ownership of Sennheiser’s consumer division, Sonova Holding AG. It joins the two solutions Sennheiser IE 300 and Sennheiser IE 900.

Exceptional down to the last detail

Sennheiser Consumer Audio GmbH is convinced that every little detail counts for audiophile music lovers. Therefore, it is important to take this into account in every detail of the development of headphones, according to the company.

With the new Sennheiser IE 600, there is thus no feature that is not designed for the highest quality, starting with the housing to the drivers to the cable, so that ultimately you can present a solution that is designated as a reference headphone and can thus appeal even sound enthusiasts.

Balanced, neutral sound image

In order to achieve the high sound quality promised by the manufacturer, the driver used in the new Sennheiser IE 600 is of course crucial first and foremost. According to the company, this is a 7 mm TrueResponse driver that can cover a particularly wide frequency response and comes up with a dynamic, distortion-free reproduction.

A special feature of the Sennheiser IE 600 is that the drivers for the left and right channels are chosen to have a perfect pairing with identical frequency-dependent amplitude response.

Another key aspect is that the manufacturer relies on an innovative acoustic back volume inside the earphone and a precision-engineered resonance chamber. This special design is intended to achieve a particularly high presence and sonic intimacy, as the manufacturer puts it.

In the sound path between the transducer and the ear canal are dual-chamber absorbers, known as D2CAs, which the manufacturer claims are the key to the Sennheiser IE 600’s particularly fine tuning. These are also said to be precisely shaped, making even the finest sound elements audible by absorbing masking frequencies.

The Sennheiser IE 600 is designed for a lifelike, in the highs and mids particularly detailed, and with a steep bass slope also powerful and yet precise low-frequency imaging.

Housing manufactured using the 3D printing process

As can be seen from the already described key data of the new Sennheiser IE 600, the housing of the in-ear headphones represents a central element of the acoustic concept. The manufacturing process, which is carried out using a patented 3D printing process from ZR01 amorphous metal, is correspondingly complex. This special material has a glass-like structure but three times the hardness and flexural strength of high-performance steel. It is thus a material normally used in the aerospace industry.

Developed in Germany, the Sennheiser IE 600 is manufactured at Sonova Consumer Hearing’s state-of-the-art, in-house manufacturing facility in Ireland, where one of the world’s most advanced production lines of its kind is said to be located.

The special material of the housing is given a silky, shimmering finish through several elaborate treatment processes, which is said to be particularly resistant to corrosion and scratches.

High wearing comfort

A headphone like the new Sennheiser IE 600 naturally also relies on a high level of wearing comfort, which is supposed to be provided by the special shape of the housing alone, since it was designed not only based on acoustic considerations, but also on ergonomic ones.

In addition, the Sennheiser IE 600 comes with earpieces in different sizes and different materials. For example, silicone and memory foam earpieces are available in three sizes each.

The headphones are placed in the ear in such a way that the cable is routed from the front over the ear to the back, which guarantees a particularly secure fit.

MMCX connectors for interchangeable cable

Of course, you can use the new Sennheiser IE 600 with different cables, so-called MMCX connectors make this possible. These are gold-plated and particularly stable, allowing cables with a diameter of up to 4.8 mm, as the manufacturer states. Cables with unbalanced and balanced connections to the source can thus be selected, with a choice of para-amide amplified cables with unbalanced 3.5 mm stereo mini-jack and balanced 4.4 mm PENTACONN, both of which can be found in the scope of delivery.

“When developing our audiophile earphones, feedback from our customers* is essential to us. That’s why the IE 600 offers neutral tuning combined with our industry-leading miniature transducer technology. The pioneering sound quality is rounded off by the use of amorphous metal at the highest level, making the IE 600 a reference earphone for any sound enthusiast.”
