Rega Planar 2 Walnut Effect Finish

Again the English HiFi smithy Rega Research Limited extends its offer in the range of record players now by a new design variant, namely the new Rega Planar 2 Walnut Effect Finish. This step follows the introduction of the new design variant for the entry-level models Rega Planar 1 and Rega Planar 1 Plus, which are now also available as Rega Planar 1 Walnut Effect and Rega Planar 1 Plus Walnut Effect.

Rega Planar 2 – White, Black, Red and now Walnut

To date, Rega Research Limited has offered the Rega Planar 2 in White, Black and Red finishes, both of which are high gloss lacquer finishes. The fourth variant now introduced adds a wood finish for the first time, a finish that has proven increasingly popular in record players in recent years.

Rega Planar 2 – The little brother of the Rega Planar 3

The Rega Planar 2 has been on the market for quite some time now, but this does not change the fact that it is still an extremely fine turntable. The reason for this is that the Rega Planar 2 was developed together with the Rega Planar 3 over a period of two years, and thus inherited many features from its big brother.

The Rega Planar 2 is equipped with the Rega RB220 tonearm, a low-noise 24 V motor newly developed for this turntable, a high-gloss laminated acrylic platter, a newly developed central bearing and much more. Every feature of this turntable, which Rega Research Limited says is particularly innovative, is designed to extract maximum information and detail from the record.

Rega Planar 2 Walnut Effect Finish with special dust cover

Of course, all design variants of the Rega Planar 2 are delivered with a matching dust cover, but the new version Rega Planar 2 Walnut Effect Finish has a dust cover in a particularly noble smoked glass look, although it is of course still acrylic that is used here.

The new Rega Planar 2 Walnut Effect Finish is available immediately in specialized trade. The suggested retail price is listed at € 649,-.

Getting to the point

After Rega Research Limited already brought the Rega Planar 1 as well as the Rega Planar 1 Plus in the new Design variant walnut on the market, now also the Rega Planar 2 follows as Rega Planar 2 Walnut Effect Finish. With this model, the British are also following a trend that has been clearly visible for months, towards turntables with an appealing wood finish.
