Rega Elicit MK5 Stereo Integrated Amplifier – Focused on the Essentials

With the new Rega Elicit MK5 Stereo Integrated Amplifier, Rega Research Limited presents a new stereo integrated amplifier in traditional Class A/B technology, which fits seamlessly into the very broad product range of the English hi-fi manufacturer. While Rega Research Limited’s range of amplifiers starts with the Rega io and the Rega Brio and continues with the Rega Elex-R, the new Rega Elicit MK5 Stereo Integrated Amplifier ranks above the latter and thus below the two solutions Rega Aethos and Rega Osiris. The new Rega Elicit MK5 Stereo Integrated Amplifier is located in the upper midfield of the Rega Research Limited amplifier range.

Rega Elicit MK5 Stereo Integrated Amplifier – Meeting the Highest Standards…

The English hi-fi manufacturer states that the new Rega Elicit MK5 Stereo Integrated Amplifier has been developed and manufactured to the highest standards, whereby the design concept has already been conceived according to the company’s current line.

This should ensure that, based on the new Rega Elicit MK5 Stereo Integrated Amplifier, one can realise a complete hi-fi chain with solutions from Rega Research Limited that is coherent in every respect, although one will hardly have the embarrassment of having to make many further investments for this, because with an integrated phono preamplifier as well as an integrated D/A converter, the new Rega Elicit MK5 Stereo Integrated Amplifier already comes with essential components.

Class A/B amplifier

According to Rega Research Limited, the new Rega Elicit MK5 Stereo Integrated Amplifier is based on concepts that have proven themselves over decades, especially in the basic design of the amplifier in the Class A/B amplifier technology that has been used by the British company for years and has been continuously developed.

Borrowing from the Rega Aethos

The new Rega Elicit MK5 Stereo Integrated Amplifier also borrows design features from the Rega Aethos, according to the manufacturer, referring to the same discrete FET-based preamplifier circuitry, as well as the first-class potentiometer from the specialist Alps used to control the volume.

As expected, special attention has been paid to the selection of the most important audio components. Discrete circuitry, high quality relays, polypropylene capacitors and Sanken output transistors are used throughout the design, Rega Research Limited states on record.

The galvanically and optically isolated digital inputs use a Wolfson S/PDIF receiver IC, which is said to provide exceptionally detailed and clear reproduction of all connected sources. Signal processing relies on a DAC, also from Wolfson, and a discrete output stage developed in-house by Rega Research Limited. Signals with 24 bit and 192 kHz can be processed.

Numerous connection options

The new Rega Elicit MK5 Stereo Integrated Amplifier provides the user with four analogue inputs in the form of RCA socket pairs, as well as a direct input and a record input. As described, there is neither a D/A converter nor a phono preamplifier, while an optical and coaxial S/PDIF interface are available for digital signals. The phono preamplifier is designed for drives equipped with MM cartridge systems.

A headphone connection rounds off the very harmonious overall picture of the new Rega Elicit MK5 Stereo Integrated Amplifier.

Solid performance

The new Rega Elicit MK5 Stereo Integrated Amplifier is capable of delivering two times 105 watts of power when using speaker systems with an impedance of 8 ohms. If the speaker systems have an impedance of 6 ohms, the amplifier is said to deliver two times 127 watts, and with an impedance of only 4 ohms, two times 162 watts.

The new Rega Elicit MK5 Stereo Integrated Amplifier measures 432 x 82 x 340 mm and weighs 12.5 kg.

As already described, the design is in line with the current line of the English company, i.e. a discreet but elegant concept with a solid construction of the cabinet, the front of which looks very tidy.
