Pro-Ject RPM 5 Carbon Complete Edition – Almost everything you need

The company Pro-Ject Audio Systems is known for offering its drives in many cases ready to play, not least in the form of so-called Superpacks. Such an offer is also the basis of the now offered Pro-Ject RPM 5 Carbon Complete Edition. Here, the Pro-Ject RPM 5 drive is equipped with a Pro-Ject Pick it 2M Silver, finds the right foundation in Pro-Ject Ground it Deluxe 2, and the Pro-Ject Cover it RPM 5/9 offers protection against dust.

For years, Pro-Ject Audio Systems has maintained the good tradition of offering as many drives as possible from its broad product range not only “naked”, but also essentially ready to play, first and foremost equipped with a pickup system matching the drive. Not only does this offer the advantage that the customer can actually start using his new drive more or less immediately after purchase, Pro-Ject Audio Systems also passes on to the customer the price advantage that a manufacturer with the quantities of the world market leader’s top-of-the-line pick-up systems can offer, resulting in very attractive offers.

This is also the case with the Pro-Ject RPM 5 Carbon Complete Edition, which Pro-Ject Audio Systems now offers in the form of the Pro-Ject RPM 5 Carbon.

At the center of this offer is of course the Pro-Ject RPM 5 Carbon and thus an extremely fine drive. With the Pro-Ject RPM Series, from which this one originates, the company from Lower Austria takes a slightly different approach and uses a chassis that is round in shape and only protrudes over the turntable at one point, namely where the pickup is enthroned. The chassis is a sandwich construction, with two layers of MDF, each 16 mm thick, and a layer of carbon fiber as the top layer, which further increases the rigidity. Moreover, this looks really flawless.

The motor is housed here in a separate case and is placed on the left side of the drive.

The tonearm used is a Pro-Ject 9cc Evolution, which is made from a single piece of carbon fiber. The tonearm base of course allows here all adjustments to make an optimal adjustment for different pickup systems.

In this case, however, the customer does not have to worry about this, because the Pro-Ject RPM 5 Carbon Complete Edition comes with a fine MM cartridge pre-installed ex works, namely a Pro-Ject Pick it 2M Silver, which was developed in cooperation with the world market leader Ortofon A/S.

The turntable is made of acrylic and is driven by an external belt. Of course, a plate clamp is also included in the scope of delivery, this is the Pro-Ject Clamp it.

Also included in the delivery is the correct base, in the form of the turntable base Pro-Ject Ground it Deluxe 2. Here it is noticeable that Pro-Ject Audio Systems paints this base in the Pro-Ject RPM 5 Complete Edition to match the turntable, you can choose between red, black and white.

As if this wasn’t enough, Pro-Ject Cover it RPM 5/9 also comes with the matching dust cover and of course a cable is included.

All you need to operate the drive is a suitable phono preamplifier.
