Polk Signa S3 – Universal Home Cinema Sound Bar…

Simple operation, flexible use and easy installation, all this is promised by Sound United LLC. for the new Polk Audio soundbar from the Polk Signa Series, the Polk Signa S3. The user should be able to achieve convincing sound for the TV in the simplest possible way, and all this at an attractive price.

Since the founding of Polk Audio in 1972 by Mathew Polk, the company’s declared goal has been to develop affordable audio solutions with outstanding sound. The US loudspeaker specialist, which has been part of Sound United LLC. for years, states this as a corporate philosophy that has once again been applied to the latest Polk Signa Series soundbar, the new Polk Signa S3.

In fact, Polk Audio offers a range of very affordable solutions to provide TV systems with an attractive audio solution. For example, the Polk Signa Series already mentioned offers solutions such as the Polk Signa Solo Soundbar, which is available for as little as €179. The Polk Signa S2 is a soundbar that already has a wirelessly connected subwoofer and is available for only € 249,-.

Polk Audio is now expanding the Polk Signa Series with another model aimed at price-sensitive users who are still looking for an elegant, discreet solution for attractive TV sound, namely the new Polk Signa S3. Once again, this is a combination of a slim soundbar and a radio-controlled subwoofer that provides support in the lower frequency range. Apart from its actual purpose in television, the integration into the network and the support of Google Chromecast ensures that various other contents can be accessed directly.

The new Polk Signa S3 is really very, very flat and compact, so it nestles easily under the TV in the living area. Even the subwoofer, which is part of the set, will probably not pose a problem if it can’t be placed anywhere in the living room, especially since, as already mentioned, it is radio-controlled and therefore only requires a power outlet within reach.

Despite its compact dimensions, the Polk Signa S3 should convince with room-filling sound, according to the manufacturer’s promise. Among other things, four powerful drivers in the only 5.5 cm high and 90 cm wide soundbar ensure this. The connection to the TV set is via HDMI, whereby an ARC, i.e. an audio return channel, is of course supported, as is HDMI CEC for central control using only the TV’s control panel. Nevertheless, the Polk Signa S3 comes with a matching infrared remote control. Alternatively, an optical digital input, a so-called TOS-Link socket, is also available.

The Polk Signa S3 is able to process content in Dolby Digital, but not DTS. The promised room-filling sound is to be achieved via Virtual Surround.

The manufacturer also cites the Polk VoiceAdjust technology as another special sound feature, which adjusts the volume in films, TV shows and sports broadcasts to provide the best possible speech intelligibility. Of course, three preset modes are available for DSP-based signal processing, namely Movie, Music and Night.

If you want to use the Polk Signa S3 as an audio system away from television, you will probably rely first and foremost on its network integration, as this makes Google Chromecast available. Via this now very widespread streaming platform, a multitude of online content can be used, be it Google PLAY Music, Amazon Music HD, Spotify, TIDAL, Qobuz, or even the high-end media management and multiroom audio streaming solution Roon supports Google Chromecast. The soundbar also supports Google Assistant so that songs can be queued and played by voice command from a Google Home device or the Google Home App. The soundbar can also be grouped with other Google Chromecast compatible devices so you can enjoy music throughout your home.

“The Signa Series Soundbars are still bestsellers – especially because of the impressive Polk Audio sound quality, but also because of their ease of use and value for money. The Signa S3 is the perfect choice for those who want to upgrade their home cinema system in an uncomplicated but enormously effective way. It sounds great, works with almost every TV and every brand of TV, delivers great virtual surround sound thanks to Dolby Digital decoders and features a chromecast function that allows users to stream their favourite music directly into their living room.
