Piega Coax Gen2 Series – Piega Coax 311 LTD, Piega Coax 511 LTD and Piega Coax 711 LTD

Piega Coax 311 LTD, Piega Coax 511 LTD and Piega Coax 711 LTD, these three new special models are a surprise for Piega SA at the High End 2022, because they are technically refined solutions of the already offered models of the Piega Coax Gen2 Series, the product line that was simultaneously given four new models in Munich by the Swiss loudspeaker specialist from Horgen near Zurich, namely the Piega Coax 811, Piega Coax 611, Piega Coax 411 and Piega Coax Center 211 systems.

Piega Coax Gen2 Series – A particularly important product line

The Piega Coax Series is probably one of the most important product lines of the Swiss loudspeaker specialist, because after all, it offers all the features that make solutions from Piega SA so special. It is all the more exciting when the company announces new models in this product line, as they did in Munich these days at the High End 2022.

All the more so, because the bottom line is that the entire Piega Coax Gen2 Series has been repositioned. While the Piega Coax 811, Piega Coax 611, Piega Coax 411 and Piega Coax Center 211 are completely new loudspeaker systems, the existing Piega Coax models have been refined and are now offered as special editions.

New Piega C112 and Piega C212 coaxial ribbon drivers

First and foremost, the new coaxial ribbon drivers stand out, which Piega SA is now using in the new models Piega Coax 311 LTD, Piega Coax 511 LTD and Piega Coax 711 LTD. Depending on the model, these are the Piega C112 or Piega C212, whereby these are of course the name-giving elements of the entire product line in the proven manner, i.e. they present themselves as a midrange and tweeter combination in a coaxial arrangement, and both designed as ribbon drivers.

The two coaxial ribbon drivers, the Piega C112 and the Piega C212, feature an additional neodymium magnet as the most important innovation, which is supposed to ensure an even higher efficiency of the tweeter.

Piega Coax 711 LTD

For music lovers who need powerful bass reproduction, the three-way Piega Coax 711 LTD floorstanding speaker is the ideal choice. Below the new Piega C212 coaxial midrange-tweeter, four 220 mm woofers are waiting to set the air in motion – two actively driven by the connected amplifier, two as passive cones to underpin the bass reproduction.

The Piega Coax 711 LTD is said to be able to reproduce a frequency range between 22 Hz and 50 kHz, to have an impedance of 4 ohms and a sensitivity of 92 dB, and thus to be designed for amplifiers with an output of between 20 and 250 watts.

With dimensions of 118 x 28 x 33 cm, this floor-standing speaker system weighs 47 kg.

Piega Coax 511 LTD

At a height of 115 cm, this slim floorstanding speaker, only 22 cm wide, has four 160 mm woofers in addition to the Piega C112 coaxial ribbon drivers of the latest generation placed at the top of the baffle. Two are actively driven by the connected amplifier, the other two act as passive cones and help the Piega Coax 511 LTD to produce a harmonious and deep bass reproduction.

The Piega Coax 511 LTD is capable of reproducing a frequency range between 32 Hz and 50 kHz. Again, the impedance is listed at 4 ohms, the sensitivity at 90 dB, and the recommended amplifier power is listed at 20 to 250 watts.

With the dimensions already mentioned – 115 x 22 x 25 cm – the system weighs 32 kg.

Piega Coax 311 LTD

The Piega Coax 311 LTD feels most at home on a shelf or on a stand. In the 22 cm wide baffle, the further developed Piega C112 coaxial ribbon and a 160 mm UHQD woofer do their job and, according to Piega SA, ensure extremely vivid, dynamic and precise music reproduction in small to medium-sized rooms. The Piega Coax 311 LTD is considered by the manufacturer from Switzerland to be the ideal entry into the “coaxial world” of Piega SA.

With dimensions of 41 x 22 x 25 cm and 15 kg, the quite compact but extremely massive loudspeaker system is said to be able to reproduce a frequency range between 35 Hz and 50 kHz, to have an impedance of 4 ohms and a sensitivity of 90 dB, and thus to be designed for amplifiers with an output of between 20 and 200 watts.

Prices and availability

The new special models of the Piega Coax Gen2 Series are already available in specialist shops. For the floorstanding speaker system Piega Coax 711 LTD you have to budget € 9.950,- and for the second floorstanding speaker system Piega Coax 511 LTD € 5.950,-. The bookshelf speaker system Piega Coax 311 LTD is offered at a price of € 4,900. These prices are all per unit and apply to the silver aluminium version. If you want a black or white version, you have to add € 300,- each.

Getting to the point

After Piega SA presented four new models of the Piega Cox Gen2 Series at the High End 2022 – Piega Coax 811, Piega Coax 611, Piega Coax 411 and Piega Coax Center 211 – the previously available solutions were also to be presented in Munich in a new version, technically revised in quite decisive details, in the form of special models. These are available with the new systems as Piega Coax Limited Edition, specifically as Piega Coax 311 LTD, Piega Coax 511 LTD and Piega Coax 711 LTD.
