Piega Ace Wireless Series – Piega Ace 30 Wireless and Piega Ace 50 Wireless

No compromises, whether for HiFi or Home Cinema, this is what Piega SA promises for the new Piega Ace Wireless Series, now available with the Piega Ace 30 Wireless and Piega Ace 50 Wireless models.

Piega SA describes the new Piega Ace Wireless Series as the largest, smallest all-in-one sound system with outstanding sound, a solution that is equally designed for stereo and home cinema and is intended to guarantee state-of-the-art streaming without compromise.

With this discreet “contradiction in terms” – the largest, smallest… – Piega SA wants to point out that with the Piega Ace Wireless Series, they can offer an extremely compact, yet enormously versatile solution, which on the one hand delivers the fabulous sound that is expected from the Swiss, and on the other hand is intended to address the broadest possible customer base at a particularly attractive price.

Piega Ace Wireless Series – Expect more…

Piega SA claims to work according to the brand promise “Expect more…”, and the new Piega Ace Wireless Series should be able to keep this promise without any problems.

First and foremost, this product line is intended to dispel the prejudice that only solutions with cables can sound excellent, which is still to be found especially in the high-end camp. The scepticism towards compact solutions is naturally still quite high in this user group, and Piega SA wants to prove them wrong with the new Piega Ace Wireless Series.

No compromises – versatile active speaker systems with integrated streaming

The solutions of the new Piega Ace Wireless Series are designed as active loudspeaker systems with integrated streaming client, whereby two models will be offered at the start.

First of all, there is the Piega Ace 30 Wireless, a very compact so-called shelf speaker, which can not only be placed free-standing on a piece of furniture, for example, but can also be mounted on the wall in a very simple and space-saving way.

The second model is called Piega Ace 50 Wireless, which is a floor-standing speaker system. Piega SA in particular has been known for years for its elegant, very slim floor-standing loudspeaker systems, and this characteristic naturally also applies to the new Piega Ace 50 Wireless, so that it can be easily integrated into any living environment.

WiSA as the basis

Fortunately, Piega SA decided not to reinvent the wheel, but to rely on a well-proven technology that, interestingly, has not yet received the attention it deserves.

WiSA, a very exciting technology of the Wireless Speaker & Audio Association, to which many well-known manufacturers already belong and which also offers corresponding solutions, is also used.

WiSA can boast of being the only wireless technology that has been developed specifically for audio signal transmission in active loudspeaker systems. It guarantees a signal transmission with high resolution at lowest latency and is designed in such a way that not only stereo but also surround is possible.

This means that solutions based on WiSA technology, such as the new Piega Ace Wireless Series, can be used to easily create hi-fi systems for stereo, but also multi-channel audio configurations for home cinema.

In the specific case of the Piega Ace Wireless Series, this means that a stereo pair of Piega Ace Wireless speakers consists of a Tx and an Rx speaker. Tx refers to the transmitter, Rx to the receiver. The transmitter sends the music in high-definition quality wirelessly to one or more receivers, so in principle you can also set up a sound solution in “stereo” via several speaker systems.

With multichannel, the matter is only slightly more complex, because in this case only speakers are used as receivers, and their respective tasks – left and right channel, centre or surround speaker – are assigned to them in the simplest way. The central interface, i.e. transceiver, is a TV set that supports WiSA, and there are already many of these on the market. A WiSA hub can also function as a central interface, although there are not too many of them yet, that must be clearly stated.

Numerous interfaces

Depending on whether the speaker is designed as a receiver or transmitter, different interfaces are available. All in all, the system offers everything that a modern active speaker system can offer.

There are analogue inputs as well as digital interfaces, and there is also an HDMI connection for direct connection to a TV set, whereby it is HDMI 2.1, so that not only HDMI CEC is offered for central control, but also an eARC (enhanced Audio Return Channel) for transmitting content up to Dolby Atmos and DTS:X.

By the way, analogue signals are processed with 24 bit and 192 kHz, which is mentioned here for the sake of completeness. This means that A/D converters are used, which work on the same level as the D/A converters used, because digital signals are also supported here with up to 24 bits and 192 kHz.

Streaming via dlna, Google Chromecast and Roon Ready

The streaming client integrated into the Piega Ace Wireless Series plays all the right tracks.

The integration into the network is done either via cable and an Ethernet interface, or via WiFi.

For music streaming, UPnP is used first; the solutions of the product series are dlna-certified for this.

In addition, there is support for Google Chromecast and Spotify Connect is also directly supported.

What is particularly exciting is that the solutions of the Piega Ace Wireless Series are Roon-ready, which means that nothing stands in the way of direct integration into the media management and multi-room audio streaming solution from Roon Labs LLC.

Bluetooth must not be missing

If you want to quickly integrate smartphones, tablets, portable hi-res audio players or even notebooks as a source, you can do so via Bluetooth, although this is only Bluetooth 4.2.

Impeccable driver equipment of the Piega Ace 30 Wireless and Piega Ace 50 Wireless
How could it be otherwise, the Piega Ace 30 Wireless and Piega Ace 50 Wireless are equipped with the finest drivers. Both models use Piega AMT tweeter drivers, whereby the Piega Ace 30 Wireless is a two-way system with a 120 mm MDS driver and the Piega Ace 50 Wireless has a 120 mm MDS driver for the mid-range and four further 120 mm MDS drivers for the bass range. This is a classic three-way system.

Both models rely on DSP-based signal processing, which is supposed to ensure optimal sound tuning.

Thus, the Piega Ace 30 Wireless achieves a frequency range between 35 Hz and 25 kHz, and Piega Ace 50 Wireless can cover 30 Hz up to 25 kHz.

The amplifier module of the Piega Ace 30 Wireless delivers an output of 100 watts, the Piega Ace 50 Wireless even 200 watts.

Both loudspeaker systems feature the characteristic Piega SA aluminium enclosures, the material that makes such a slim design possible in the first place.

The Piega Ace 30 Wireless measures 22 x 14 x 16 cm and the Piega Ace 50 Wireless 105 x 14 x 15 cm, with a 25 cm diameter stand. The Piega Ace 30 Wireless weighs 3.4 kg and the Piega Ace 50 Wireless 14 kg.

By the way, the design with its elliptical shape comes from Stephan Hürlemann and relies on a sandblasted aluminium surface, or a lacquer finish in white or black.

The new Piega Ace Wireless Series with the models Piega Ace 30 Wireless and Piega Ace 50 Wireless should be available in specialist shops from now on. As already described, the manufacturer offers TX models and RX models in order to always be able to realise an optimal configuration according to the customer’s requirements.

Piega Ace Center Wireless

If you compare the new Piega Ace Wireless Series with the passive Piega Ace Series, you will of course notice that the “wireless” series is missing an essential component, namely a centre speaker.

But this should not be long in coming, as the Swiss are already talking about a Piega Ace Center Wireless on their website and the first product pictures are also available.

Getting to the point

With the new Piega Ace Wireless Series consisting of the models Piega Ace 30 Wireless and Piega Ace 50 Wireless, Piega SA wants to prove that modern active speaker systems can combine elegance, comfort, flexibility and quality. With the highly aesthetic Piega Ace 50 Wireless and Piega Ace 30 Wireless speaker systems, Piega SA ultimately launches a compact all-in-one sound system with various integrated streaming platforms and first-class sound quality that can be effortlessly integrated into any living environment.
