The Peugeot 408 is another Peugeot brand vehicle from the Stellantis N.V. Group equipped with an audio system from French specialist Focal-JMlab. However, Focal-JMlab will obviously continue to focus primarily on the French brands of the group, and here especially on the vehicles of the Peugeot and DS Automobiles brands.

Audio systems from Focal-JMlab can currently be found in the Peugeot 308, Peugeot 508, Peugeot 508 SW, Peugeot 2008, Peugeot 3008, Peugeot 5008 and the Peugeot Peugeot 4008 SUV as well as the new Peugeot 408, and as the Focal Electra Premium HiFi System in all DS Automobiles models.

Peugeot 408 – Performance, charm and pleasure

The new Peugeot should be characterized by three main features: Performance, charm and pleasure. The cooperation between the car manufacturer and Focal-JMlab is intended to ensure that the audio system in the vehicle also contributes to this.

Thus, the companies state that for the Peugeot 408 they worked together again to combine the pleasure of driving with that of listening, with the same efficiency and excellence as always.

Focal HiFi Premium System

The Focal HiFi Premium system in the Peugeot 408, said to be distinguished by its dynamic fastback silhouette, offers a wide, open and extremely precise sound image. Thanks to the so-called Front Optimization mode, the sound is said to be exceptional and worthy of a live concert for both driver and passenger. Each of the passengers comes into the benefit of pure high-fidelity sound, so the promise of the French specialist Focal-JMlab.

The Focal HiFi Premium system is based on a total of ten speaker systems integrated into the Peugeot 408, relying on exclusive technologies from Focal-JMlab, the manufacturer is on record as saying.

For example, a center channel integrated centrally into the dashboard based on a driver with polyglass cone is said to provide a solid foundation for the sound stage. Four mid-range drivers with Focal TMD Surround and Polyglass Cone have been integrated into the driver doors to guarantee a precise, balanced and dynamic performance.

The tweeters were installed in the A- and B-pillars of the vehicle, using inverted dome tweeters with aluminum cones and optimal radiation towards the passenger to ensure the particularly detailed imaging promised by the manufacturer.

The system is rounded off by a Focal subwoofer with Triple Voice Coil and Power Flower Technology, which can be found on the underside of the trunk.

At the heart of the Focal HiFi Premium system in the Peugeot 408 is a 12-way Class D amplifier with DSP-based signal processing that can unleash a total of 690 watts of power.

The audio system is an integral part of the on-board computer, once again using the Peugeot i-Connect advanced infotainment system. This in turn is part of the so-called Peugeot i-Cockpit, which is intended to be a particularly intuitive way of supporting the driver and presenting him with all the relevant information while driving and making it easier to operate.
