Nubert XRC Android Interface – Nubert X-Room Calibration for Google Android

Now users of a Google Android smartphone can also enjoy the Nubert X-Room Calibration function for the Nubert nuPro X series, selected Nubert nuSub subwoofers and the Nubert nuConnect ampX. This is made possible by a new smart solution, namely the USB measurement microphone for Google Android smartphones and tablets Nubert XRC Android Interface.

Some manufacturers offer the possibility to optimise special solutions to the respective conditions in the listening room with the help of an app for the smartphone. Such a calibration function cannot, of course, fully compete with specially designed solutions, but it does offer a sometimes drastic improvement, as the reproduction is adapted to the individual conditions as far as possible. However, almost all such concepts are so far only available to users with an Apple iPhone, but not to users with a smartphone based on Google Android.

This also applies to the calibration function that the German company Nubert electronic GmbH offers for more and more products of its own portfolio, such as the current generation of active speaker systems of the Nubert nuPro series, the Nubert nuPro X line, as well as selected subwoofers of the Nubert nuSub series and, of course, the compact stereo integrated amplifier Nubert nuConnect ampX, for which the manufacturer from Schwäbisch Gmünd introduced the so-called Nubert X-Room Calibration as room calibration for the first time.

Until now, the Nubert X-Room Calibration was only available in the form of an app for Apple iOS, whereby this had a decisive reason, and that was of a technical nature. From a developer’s point of view, the Apple iPhone and Apple iOS represent a comparatively simple ecosystem for his projects. The software is clearly specified, the hardware is also clearly defined, so he can easily realise functions that have specific hardware requirements. With smartphones running Google Android, on the other hand, the situation is completely different: dozens and dozens of manufacturers serve this market, some with completely different devices. It is therefore almost impossible to create an app that takes the most diverse hardware into account.

But that’s exactly what you need when it comes to apps for room calibration, like the Nubert X-Room Calibration, especially with regard to the microphone. Of course, the microphone’s properties have a decisive influence on the results that can be achieved with an app, so the developer must be aware of them.

For technical reasons, we have only been able to offer this function of our free app X-Remote for iOS devices so far. In the Android world, an unmanageable variety of different microphones with entirely different characteristics has so far prevented the implementation of the calibration; a surprising number of even high-quality Android smartphones, for example, capture frequencies below 100 or even 150 Hertz inadequately or not at all.

Nubert electronic GmbH

But Nubert electronic GmbH has now found a very clever solution that allows users of smartphones and tablets with Google Android to enjoy the Nubert X-Room Calibration with the help of a new small device that will soon be available in the form of the Nubert XRC Android Interface.

The new Nubert XRC Android Interface is nothing more than a plug-in microphone that connects directly to the USB-C input of current smartphones and tablets with Google Android as their operating system. This means that the aforementioned essential prerequisite for the optimal functioning of the Nubert X-Room Calibration is given, a measurement microphone whose technical features are clearly defined.

In combination with an improved version of the Nubert X-Remote App, which is now also available for Google Android, not only users with Apple iPhones, but also smartphones and tablets with Google Android will be able to carry out the room calibration of various solutions from Nubert electronic GmbH.

Of course, the entire procedure is exactly the same as with Apple iOS. The user takes a measurement at the listening position, during which a test signal is played. After only a few seconds, the app has determined an individual correction curve based on this and transmits this to the active speaker systems, subwoofers or the small stereo integrated amplifier or all systems that will also rely on Nubert X-Room Calibration at Nubert electronic GmbH in the future.

Nubert electronic GmbH is proud to be the first manufacturer to offer such a customer-friendly automatic measurement system as the Nubert X-Room Calibration not only for Apple iOS, but now also for Google Android.
The price for the new Nubert XRC Android interface must be described as extremely moderate; it will be available directly from Nubert electronic GmbH in a few days for just € 35.
