Nubert nuPro X RC Series – The next evolutionary step in active loudspeaker systems

With the latest generation of active loudspeaker systems of the Nubert nuPro series the company Nubert electronic GmbH from Schwäbisch Gmünd takes a big step forward. The new models Nubert nuPro X-3000 RC, Nubert nuPro X-4000 RC, Nubert nuPro X-6000 RC and Nubert nuPro X-8000 RC feature for the first time a room calibration, the Nubert X-Room Calibration.

The company Nubert electronic GmbH has been a proven expert in the field of active loudspeaker systems for years. This product range represents a very important business area of the company from Schwäbisch Gmünd, whereby the solutions of the Nubert nuPro X series in particular prove to be extremely powerful systems, which are not only used for HiFi, but also in the area of semi-professional and professional media production, and can therefore also meet high demands with regard to sound fidelity.

The active loudspeaker systems from Nubert electronic GmbH have already been characterised by a high degree of versatility, and this is exactly what the latest generation of the Nubert nuPro X series, the new Nubert nuPro X RC series, now presented, will improve even further.

The company states that the latest generation of the Nubert nuPro X series, the Nubert nuPro X RC series, represents the next evolutionary step in the active loudspeaker systems from Nubert electronic GmbH. Two new compact loudspeaker systems and two new floor-standing loudspeaker systems will be introduced to continue the success story of the Nubert nuPro series. According to the company, the Nubert nuPro X series in particular is one of the best-selling, most innovative and most frequently awarded solutions from Nubert electronic GmbH.

With the introduction of the new models Nubert nuPro X-3000 RC, Nubert nuPro X-4000 RC, Nubert nuPro X-6000 RC and Nubert nuPro X-8000 RC, one of the most important features of the Nubert nuPro X series has been introduced, namely an automatic room calibration, the so-called Nubert X-Room Calibration. This is intended to ensure that the active loudspeaker systems deliver optimum results in every room. Other details have also been improved, such as the “wireless” signal transmission via Bluetooth, and the sound tuning has also been further refined for an even more pleasant and authentic listening experience.

It is not completely new that Nubert electronic GmbH implements the mentioned room calibration Nubert X-Room Calibration in solutions of the Nubert nuPro X series, but already one product stands out, namely the unique soundbar Nubert nuPro XS-7500, which can also be found in the subwoofers of the Nubert nuSub series and the new compact but immensely versatile stereo amplifier Nubert nuConnect ampX.

The linchpin of this room calibration is that it optimises the bass range, the frequency band that is by far responsible for most of the problems in room acoustics. Frequency peaks or troughs in the bass range up to 160 Hz are automatically compensated here, based on DSP-based signal processing. The handling is designed in such a way that it couldn’t be easier, as the developers have opted for the integration of an app for Apple iOS. An Apple iPhone or Apple iPad can thus be connected to the corresponding systems simply via Bluetooth, so no network infrastructure is required. At the push of a button, the Nubert X-Remote App actually calibrates the room and creates the corresponding correction curve, which in turn can be permanently stored as a preset on the active speaker systems. Within a few moments an optimal performance even in acoustically problematic environments, free of drone effects or bass holes, should be guaranteed.

But as described, the integration of the room calibration is probably the most obvious, but by far not the only new feature of the Nubert nuPro X RC models. For example, Nubert electronic GmbH states that the acoustic engineers for the new models have paid close attention to even more precise control and equalization of the high-performance drivers installed, resulting in an even more linear frequency response. This is intended to appeal not only to hi-fi enthusiasts, but once again to users in the professional studio environment.

Of course, the new models Nubert nuPro X-3000 RC, Nubert nuPro X-4000 RC, Nubert nuPro X-6000 RC and Nubert nuPro X-8000 RC also feature the same variety of connections as the previous products in the range, so that a wide variety of sources can be easily integrated and thus equipped for the most diverse applications. In addition to analogue inputs in the form of unbalanced and balanced connections, the models of the new Nubert nuPro X RC series also have digital interfaces up to the USB port, and of course a “wireless” option via Bluetooth is also available. This has even been improved with the latest generation, as a new Bluetooth module from the specialist Qualcomm is now used with support for AAC, aptX, aptX HD and aptX LL. This not only enables “wireless” playback including hi-res audio at 24 bits and 48 kHz, but also ensures that all this is done with virtually no delay. This also enables wireless use in the environment of a TV set, as picture and sound are now displayed synchronously.

Speaking of “wireless”, of course the new models of the Nubert nuPro X RC series can also be used by means of the Nubert X-Connect radio protocol, which has been promoted by Nubert electronic GmbH for years and days, and this across generations with the previous models and all other solutions of the company that rely on this technology. This allows extremely flexible applications, up to multi-channel systems.

Each speaker also has a sub-out so that an additional subwoofer can easily be integrated, not only “wirelessly” via Nubert X-Connect, but also simply via cable.

It should also be pointed out that an HDMI adapter is included in the scope of delivery, which allows a direct connection to a TV, of course with support for an ARC (Audio Return Channel) as well as HDMI CEC for central control.

The new product range is introduced by the compact active two-way bass reflex system Nubert nuPro X-3000 RC, in which the developers have opted for a combination of a 25 mm fabric dome tweeter and a 148 mm bass-midrange driver with a polypropylene composite diaphragm. The frequency response is specified at 38 Hz to 22 kHz. These drivers are driven by a Class D amplifier with an output of twice 150 Watts. With dimensions of 30 cm in height, 18.5 cm in width and 23.3 cm in depth, these speakers weigh 6.6 kg.

The second model, the Nubert nuPro X-4000 RC, is also designed as a two-way bass reflex system, measuring 32 cm in height, 20.5 cm in width and 26.3 cm in depth and weighing 8.8 kg. Here, a 25 mm fabric dome tweeter is combined with a 169 mm woofer with polypropylene composite cone, and the amplifier delivers 180 watts twice. This should be able to reproduce 30 Hz to 22 kHz.

The Nubert nuPro X-6000 RC is already a very powerful floorstanding loudspeaker, designed as a three-and-a-half way bass reflex system. In addition to the 25 mm tweeter, the developers rely on a 148 mm midrange driver and two 148 mm bass drivers, so that a frequency range between 28 Hz and 22 kHz can be reproduced. Four times 120 watts are available here from the Class D amplifier. Including the stand, the system reaches a height of 110.5 cm. Without the stand, the depth is 21.3 cm, the width 18.5 cm, so that the system can be described as slim. However, 19 kg already needs to be “lifted”.

The crowning glory of the new model series is the Nubert nuPro X-8000 RC, a fully active three-and-a-half way bass reflex system in which the 25 mm tweeter is combined with a 148 mm midrange driver and two 204 mm bass drivers. Four times 210 watts are available here and a frequency range between 26 Hz and 22 kHz is to be reproduced. For this loudspeaker system one has to reckon with dimensions of 114 cm in height, but with a 24 cm wide and 30 cm deep body it can also be classified as quite slim. As far as mass is concerned, however, this system is more in the “heavyweight” class, since it weighs a remarkable 30.2 kg.

As with the previous models, the developers of the new solutions Nubert nuPro X-3000 RC, Nubert nuPro X-4000 RC, Nubert nuPro X-6000 RC and Nubert nuPro X-8000 RC rely on particularly simple operation, which is designed around a display on the front. This means that a five-way control pad is all that is needed to control the numerous functions of the active speaker systems directly on the device, not to mention the room calibration function described above, for which the app is available. Of course, a matching infrared remote control is also included in the scope of delivery of all new active speaker systems in the Nubert nuPro X RC series.

The models Nubert nuPro X-3000 RC, Nubert nuPro X-4000 RC, Nubert nuPro X-6000 RC and Nubert nuPro X-8000 RC are available in white or black with a sanded finish. A matching loudspeaker grill is always included in the scope of delivery, always in black and held in position by magnets.

Incidentally, the manufacturer expressly points out that the functions of the new models Nubert nuPro X-3000 RC, Nubert nuPro X-4000 RC, Nubert nuPro X-6000 RC and Nubert nuPro X-8000 RC cannot be retrofitted to previous models, as a completely new circuit design is used. But as already mentioned, there is nothing to prevent a cross-generational use including the use of the Nubert X-Connect radio protocol.

The new models replace the previous ones, which are therefore only available as remaining stock. According to the manufacturer’s forecast, the new model generation is to be introduced in mid-May 2020.

The Nubert nuPro X-3000 RC is the entry level model, for which a unit price of € 645,- must be taken into account. The Nubert nuPro X-4000 RC is to be offered at a unit price of € 855 and the Nubert nuPro X-6000 RC at a unit price of € 1,365. According to the manufacturer, the Nubert nuPro X-8000 RC will cost € 1.845,-.
