Naim Mu-so 2nd Generation Range – Now with native Qobuz support

While most streaming systems from Naim Audio Ltd. are already capable of using the Qobuz streaming service directly, users of the Naim Mu-so 2nd Generation Range have so far had to do without this option. Now, however, the corresponding update is available for them too, so that Qobuz can be used directly in full resolution.

Back in February of this year, the English high-end hi-fi manufacturer Naim Audio Ltd. provided an update for a wide range of streaming solutions, the most significant innovation being the direct use of the French streaming provider Qobuz.

The firmware update was available for all Naim Uniti Series All-in-One systems, i.e. for the Naim Uniti Atom, Naim Uniti Star and Naim Uniti Nova solutions. In addition, Naim Audio Ltd. also offered updates for the network players Naim ND5 XS2, Naim NDX 2 and Naim ND 555, allowing them to access Qobuz content natively.

Only users of the two systems in the Naim Mu-so Series have had to be patient, as updates for these wireless music systems, specifically the Naim Mu-so 2nd Generation and Naim Mu-so Qb 2nd Generation, have not yet been available. Naim Audio Ltd. promised in February 2020 that they would be available in spring 2020.

Now the time has indeed come, and the Naim Mu-so 2nd Generation Range can also be upgraded for native use of Qobuz with a new firmware update.

The update will be delivered as a so-called “free over-the-air” firmware upgrade and will ensure, above all, that content from Qobuz can be played back directly, up to 24 bit and 192 kHz, with the Naim Control App taking control.

A subscription to Qobuz is of course required, and new customers are offered a 30-day trial period with full functionality via the Naim Control App for Apple iOS and Google Android.
